Notre maison

Our 75 year old cabin is located on Silver Lake, near the eastern entrance to Yosemite National Park. Our US Forest Service Tract has only 26 lakefront homes on a dead end road so it is very private and exclusive. Most of the cabins are still owned by their original families. Many of the owners were from the film industry and included such notables as Frank Capra and Wallace Beery. The cabin has been decorated with period antique furniture, leather sofa and club chairs, hardwood floors, oriental carpets, and fishing and hunting decor. The kitchen has been modernized and has a Wolf range as well as the other normal upgrades. The views from our cabin are stunning. Equally impressive is the large natural stone terrace where we read, eat, sun bathe and entertain. We have our own boat dock and have a canoe, boat, and two kayaks for your use. We have TVs in the living room and MBR, a stereo for both indoors and outdoors,& cable service. The cabin is well appointed so nothing except food needs to be brought with you. Everyone who has ever visited us has hated to leave, and even though they had planned to do many things while they were in the area we have found that they had changed their plans and just stayed at the cabin for the duration of their visit. Heavy snow dictates limited seasonal use, therefore, we only exchange for exceptional resort or city properties. Not recommended for toddlers!

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. We are retired and this is a second home so it is available to exchange at any time. I am a retired Marine Corps Officer and real estate developer and my wife is a retired school teacher and commercial real estate agent. We are skiiers and snow boarders and are also sailors, having cruised in our sailboat for over 5 years. We are especially interested in exchanging for exotic beach homes or urban retreats in major cities. We prefer longer (3-4 weeks) exchanges but will consider any exchange that has something special to offer. We have been exchangers for 30 years and are "young" seniors.

Localisation

Quartier

Our cabin is accessed by a dirt road and is approximately 1 mile from Hwy 158. The locals still refer to our cabin tract as "Millionaires Row", a throwback to its film colony origins. We are just far enough away from June Lake (the nearest town) to be able to experience the wildlife of the Sierras. We have daily sightings of deer, bears, eagles, osprey, and all the smaller creatures of the forest. They wander through the yard as if it were their home and, actually, it is! Our neighbors are all accomplished individuals yet fly fishing and hiking and dinner at the Whoa Nellie Deli seem to be the main focus of conversations. The dress seems to be old jeans during the day and maybe a pair without holes at night. Across from our cabin is a pack station where you can go riding up into the "high country". In the mornings we can see the pack trains with the wranglers and mules slowly working their way up to higher elevations. Take a boat ride across the lake to the Silver Lake Resort and have one of the best breakfasts or lunches you can imagine. Go to the Double Eagle Resort for a spa treatment. They have been rated as one of the top 10 spas in America. There are numerous hiking trails that go up into the Sierras. Hike up and catch a mess of Brook Trout for breakfast. Also across the lake (with great views from the cabin), are Horsetail Falls. These are year around falls but they are especially active in the spring and it is very pleasant to go to sleep with their roar.
