Notre maison

The house's simple decor is a mix between vintage and modern with some original art. It is secluded, yet only minutes from excellent restaurants. There are views of the vineyards and the river, and a hammock for relaxing. The property has been minimally landscaped with an emphasis on California native plants and those adopted to a Mediterranean climate.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. My husband is a professor at the University of California and I am an artist. We live in San Francisco but love to spend our weekends in the house in Sonoma (especially in the summer when it's warm in the country but cold and foggy in the city). Since we bought the house last year we have been fixing it up and landscaping. We grew up in Jamaica, England, France and Germany and met in New York. Because we have friends and family there we are always looking for a place to stay in the city.

Just over an hour north of the Golden Gate Bridge in Sonoma county, this is the middle of the Alexander Valley Wine growing region with many boutique wineries around. The Dry Creek Valley, Russian River Valley and Chalk Hill wine regions can all be explored by bike on quite country roads. Alternatively, St. Helena and the Napa Valley are a leisurely 30 minute drive through the beautiful Knights Valley. The Russian River accommodates canoeing, fishing and swimming in the summer and the rugged Sonoma coast can be reached in 45 minutes. The town of Healdsburg is 4 miles to the south. Surrounding a shaded old country square are cafes, excellent restaurants, spas, boutiques, a performing arts theatre, galleries and book stores. A farmer's market is held every Saturday and Tuesday in season and there are gourmet grocery stores for picnic supplies. Geyserville with its old-fashioned general store, post office, wine collective and great restaurants is across the river from the house.
The Alexander Valley is reminiscent of Tuscany and Provence with a mediterranean climate of relatively mild winters and dry, hot summers. Varietals like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Zinfandel, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Gewurztraminer, Viognier, Pinot Blanc, Shiraz and Sangiovese thrive in these conditions.
