Notre maison

We would like to perform a home exchange in the Tuscany area (or Florence) or would like to be close to Paris or London. Jill Pankey (my wife) will be in Europe from mid May to June 1 with a Study Abroad Program at Texas State University, and we plan to stay around a month or so after this program ends. Our home is in a small university setting (Texas State University-San Marcos), just 28 miles from Austin, Texas and 40 miles from San Antonio, Texas. Dallas, TX is a four hour drive North and Houston, Texas is a four hour drive to the East. One would probably need a rental car to travel long distances, but our older Honda CRV would be available for local trips to the grocery or around town. We have a ranch house with three bedrooms, a family room, three bathrooms, an upstairs art studio, open dining, living room and kitchen. This home sits on an acre of land at the highest peak of San Marcos, has a large back patio, a outdoor kitchen and fireplace, and yard and many old live-oak trees that provide great shade year round. We have internet and cable, central heat/air and ceiling fans throughout the house. White Tail Deer run through the back yard all day, and you can relax on the back patio most of the year.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. My wife and I are empty nesters, and we're both employed as professors at Texas State University. Jill is an art Instructor and I am a Professor in Kinesiology. We're looking to travel between semesters (see dates). We love to travel to Europe, Colorado and the Caribbean. We plan to travel to New Zealand in the Summer of 2009. We love skiing and scuba diving, and great wine and scenery. We most likely will travel with either our adult daughters or best friends who are also faculty at the college level. Please feel free to email us if you have any ideas other than traveling to the areas mentioned. You can see Jill's works of art at the home-page: http://www.jillpankey.com

Enjoy floating or swimming in the spring fed San Marcos River, just three miles from our home. Also play tennis, jog on trails by the river or shop at one of the largest outlet malls in Southern U.S. (only 4 miles away, great prices on everything save 50% from retail in most cases). San Marcos has a quaint little square in the middle of town, with great restaurants and shops as well. If you're interested in music, travel to Austin, Texas and take in the sites and sounds of country, jazz, and pop on Austin's Town Lake or famous 6th Street. Visit the University of Texas Blanton Art Museum or visit the State Capital. If you desire spice in your life, travel south to San Antonio and visit the River Walk, Fiesta Texas, Market Square or Sea World. If wine tasting suites your needs, travel north through the Hill Country and the Texas Hill Counry Wine Trail. Over 15 winerys are within a 40 mile radius of San Marcos. Gruene, Texas is only 20 miles away and has the oldest dance hall in Texas (Gruene Hall) where Walin and Willey got their early start, or float the Guadalupe River and relax on one of four different river floats. San Marcos is 30 miles from the Austin, Texas Bergstrom Airport, or you can fly into San Antonio, Texas which is only 40 miles away. The temperature ranges from 85-100 in the summer to 45-75 in the winter months. There is much to see and experience in the Texas Hill Country, one of the best kept secrets in the United States.
