Notre maison

My husband and I totally renovated our small, but very comfortable Cape Cod style home in 2006. We completed construction of a 1 1/2 story garage in 2007, as well as landscaping both the front and back yards. Our downstairs has a tiled floor kitchen with hardwood floor dining room, living room, queen bedroom, bathroom, study and screened in porch. The carpeted second floor has a queen bedroom, alcove twin bedroom, walk in closet and half bath. The washer and dryer are in the basement. Our storage and closet space are minimal, but suit us perfectly in our retirement. The first floor has central air conditioning; second floor has room air conditioners. We have high speed internet, WIFI, Bose stereo, and HD TV. We are neat and organized and would treat your home with the utmost respect.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. My husband Tom retired from a career in the telephone company several years ago and began a second career in the boating industry. I, Paula, taught high school biology and marine science before opening a custom picture framing business where I worked for 15 years. In 2006 we happily retired back to Rockport into my family home; back to the ocean and small town where we both grew up. Through the years we have enjoyed many shorter vacations in the USA and Europe, as well as Caribbean sailing charters, but now find ourselves having the time and freedom to enjoy some longer getaways. We do now have an indoor cat, Mia, that we would ask you to care for. She is very low maintenance!

In 2014 we enjoyed our first exchange in southwest England, in 2015 we spent three weeks in Switzerland, in the summer of 2016, we had a glorious exchange in Amsterdam with our granddaughter, and in 2017 we returned to England for a wonderful exchange in the Cotwolds. All four exchanges have been exceptional experiences. Although we have indicated destination preferences, please surprise us! We look forward to any adventure and will welcome all inquiries.

Rockport is a small (pop. 7000), quaint, seaside village located on Cape Ann which is about 35 miles north of Boston. Our town might be called "sleepy" in the winter, but comes alive from early spring through the Christmas season with visitors from all over the world. www.rockportusa.com Its rocky shores are surrounded on the east, north and west by the Atlantic Ocean and boast beautiful sandy beaches and one of the most charming harbors in New England, which is home to our local lobster boat fleet, numerous pleasure boats, and Sandy Bay Yacht Club. Rockport is one of the oldest art colonies in America and home to the Rockport Art Association , www.rockportartassn.org , as well as many art galleries, gift shops, and restaurants. The Shalin Liu Performance Center, www.rockportmusic.org , a new 330 seat theater hosts the Rockport Chamber Music Festival as well as folk and jazz concerts throughout the year. Thacher Island, home to twin lighthouses, is a 15 minute boat ride from Rockport Harbor and welcomes tourists from the end of June until early September. www.thacherisland.org. Halibut Point State Park is popular for its walking trails, picnicing and bird watching. The historic seaport of Gloucester is less than 3 miles away and provides whale watching, deep sea fishing excursions and the Cape Ann Museum, www.capeannmuseum.org . The train station is within walking distance of our home and provides a 1 hour ride to Boston. The drive north to New Hampshire and Maine or south to Cape Cod is only 2-3 hours from Rockport.
