“We exchanged homes & cars simultaneously with Paula and Tom for 3 weeks in Aug/Sept 2017 but we had begun to get to know them long before that, via email. They are great communicators; by the time we got to meet at Boston airport in August, we felt that we already knew them as friends. Setting up the exchange was straightforward, we really appreciated Paula\'s attention to detail and thoughtfulness in providing us with all the information we could have wanted to prepare our trip. Nothing was too much trouble! She even plotted all the key local addresses from supermarkets to ice cream shops into the sat nav in advance, to ensure we didn\'t get lost! The pretty little \'Cape Cod\' style house is a delightful place to stay. Perched on the hill that leads down to the picturesque Rockport harbour, it offers all the convenience and comfort you could wish for. Rockport itself is utterly charming as are many of the other towns along this gorgeous coast north of Boston. With excellent weather we were able to enjoy days on the beach, boat trips, walks along the coast, picnics, exploring quaint towns and villages, mooching round art galleries and antique shops and soaking up history, for example in Salem and Boston (an easy day trip). The local theatre and concert hall also provided two great evenings out. All this and all the lobster we could eat! We couldn\'t have been more pleased with our trip. We would thoroughly recommend a visit to this area and Paula and Tom as the perfect hosts/exchange partners.”

Rockport is a small (pop. 7000), quaint, seaside village located on Cape Ann which is about 35 miles north of Boston. Our town might be called "sleepy" in the winter, but comes alive from early spring through the Christmas season with visitors from all over the world. www.rockportusa.com Its rocky shores are surrounded on the east, north and west by the Atlantic Ocean and boast beautiful sandy beaches and one of the most charming harbors in New England, which is home to our local lobster boat fleet, numerous pleasure boats, and Sandy Bay Yacht Club. Rockport is one of the oldest art colonies in America and home to the Rockport Art Association , www.rockportartassn.org , as well as many art galleries, gift shops, and restaurants. The Shalin Liu Performance Center, www.rockportmusic.org , a new 330 seat theater hosts the Rockport Chamber Music Festival as well as folk and jazz concerts throughout the year. Thacher Island, home to twin lighthouses, is a 15 minute boat ride from Rockport Harbor and welcomes tourists from the end of June until early September. www.thacherisland.org.
