“We completed a four night exchange with Elaine, Carter and their family in November 2015. All communications from them were timely, appropriate, and very clear. Their home is located in an excellent neighbourhood with ready access to downtown Portland by car or public transportation. Theirs is a large, charming older home that has been updated while retaining its heritage character. There are many interesting restaurants nearby as well as excellent food shopping. The family are located near (but not too near) I-5 which provides very easy vehicle access. The MAX (Portland’s light rail system) is a short walk away so you can be in downtown Portland in just a few minutes. These family left our place exactly as we hoped, very tidy and clean. Definitely recommended as a home base for convenient exploration of the interesting city of Portland.”

Notre maison
Big, beautifully restored older home (built in 1906), comfortably furnished, and tastefully decorated. Our home is surrounded by wonderful gardens and trees, which create great privacy, despite our location only minutes from downtown Portland. The kitchen is large and well outfitted (we love to cook); it has just about everything you could want. There are four bedrooms (one is currently used as an office) and two full baths. Our Saab station wagon or Audi A3 can be made part of the exchange, as well.

“We just completed an amazing experience in Elaine and Carter's huge craftsman home in a verdantly green and people oriented area of Portland. The home is comfortable, and our exchange partners genuinely nice, caring people. We particularly enjoyed the yard areas- comfortable, and inviting- surrounded by greenery and even coming with a passel of chickens! Public transportation is close, which takes you to downtown Portland and their home is a short walk to the eclectic/artsy Mississippi Street area full of cafes and wonderful choices of food and drink. We spent a day hiking in the Hawaii like environs of Cascade Mountains... saw many waterfalls. This exchange made us want to come back to Portland very soon! Charming exchange family and area. I highly recommend. Debbie T and friends”

We are a married couple with two boys, Parker (16) and William (14), a cat named Kitten and two chickens. Elaine is a full time mother who studies Pilates, takes trail runs and studies languages (in addition to driving the boys all over the city for sports and school). Carter loves to golf, cook fabulous meals and enjoy wine (with Elaine of course!). The boys have adventurous spirits and have travelled extensively with their parents.
We have successfully made many previous home exchanges (Spain, France, Brazil, Canada and California) and look forward to more.

This is an old, tree-lined, quiet neighborhood with little traffic and friendly neighbors. It is less than three miles from downtown and is located on the light-rail transit line. The surrounding neighborhood is one of the most dynamic in Portland; dozens of shops and restaurants are a 10-minute walk away. Portland is one of the most beautiful, exciting and forward thinking cities in North America. It is located in the shadow of the Cascade mountains, but is also within 60 miles of the Pacific Ocean (great surfing and wide sandy beaches!), 120 miles from the North American High Desert, 160 miles from Seattle and a 45 minute drive to both the Willamette Valley wine country and Hood River, home to the best wind surfing and kite boarding in the country. Among other things, Portland is a city of about 1.4 million people that is rapidly becoming known as one of the premier food and wine destinations in North America. Because of the incredible beauty and diversity of the surrounding area it is also known as an outdoor mecca for hikers, bikers, and skiers.
