Notre maison

I think my home is really beautiful, gracious and comfortable. My parents moved there in 1947 and I moved back in 2001. Since then, I've combined old and new furniture and pictures to make it a place where people can feel happy in their surroundings. The back yard is sheltered by a very large oak tree and feels quite secluded. I am gradually putting in native plants, a multi-year project. A gardener comes weekly and a cleaning lady comes on alternate Fridays. A friend frequently occupies the third bedroom and has her own bathroom; she would be there at the same time as any visitors. She is gracious, helpful, warm and non-intrusive.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. I am a retired higher education administrator (University of California, Irvine)and a re-employed administrative assistant at a local two-year college near my home. I enjoy gardening, walking, reading, doing crossword puzzles, going to performances (classical music, opera, theater, dance) and movies, visiting with family, and, of course, traveling. I am very much looking forward to this experience as a way of seeing other countries in a more personal way and offering the same experience to others.

The house is on a quiet street in an old neighborhood and close to many good hiking and walking trails. It's a hilly area and many people live there because they can own horses. It's 2 or 3 miles to the beach, a half hour from the San Pedro/harbor area and from the Point Vicente lighthouse and nature center, an hour from downtown Los Angeles/Pasadena and Disneyland and two-and-a-half hours from Santa Barbara to the north and San Diego to the south. It's easy to take an hour-and-a-half steamer ride to Catalina Island. South Coast Botanical Garden is five minutes away.
