Notre maison

Our home is quite large and filled with art and American and English antiques. It is located on a golf course and there are lots of windows and glass doors with wonderful views of the mountains. Master bedroom has a queen size bed and plenty of drawer and closet space. The guest room has a very comfortable convertible sofa. The kitchen/family room is brand equipped with most anything an ambitious cook would need. The bathrooms are large with easily accessed showers and the master bath has acces to the pool (which is very private and nice and warm during the summer and fall months).

We do not have a wired phone any more. We each have a cell phone. Visitors will need there own mobile phone.
TV service is satellit (Directv).
Broadband Internet service is via cable. Speed varies between 5 and 12 mbps.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. Jim and I are retired computer professionals who did our first home exchange a couple of summers ago. We so enjoyed it (we went to Denmark) that we don't think we'll ever stay in another hotel! Shopping for groceries and meeting neighbors and neighborhood walks are much more interesting to us than lugging bags around every couple of days. It really is the best way to see a different country.

Palm Springs is a famous resort area that offers great restaurants, casinos, theaters, health spas, golf (over 125 courses) and shopping on El Paseo (known as the rodeo Drive of the desert) in Palm Desert. In addition, we are 16 miles from an enormous designer outlet mall with everything from Nike to Prada.
Palm Springs has distinctive architecture... low buildings and slanted roofs. The movie colony is especially attractive.
There is the Palm Springs Museum of Art, a water park, a zoo/arboretum (The Living Desert) and theaters including an IMAX. There is an excellent aircraft museum at the airport containing many WWII airplanes and one of the few airworthy B-17s. Many of the museum docents flew the aircraft.

The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway takes you to Mount San Jacinto State Park 8500 feet (2550m) above the desert floor and 25 degrees cooler.
The Salton Sea is 75 miles (125km) southeast. It is the largest lake in California and is 226 feet (69m) below sea level. The lake is astride the San Andreas fault.
Joshua Tree National Park is about 40 miles (70km) north of Palm Springs.
The Coachella Valley is very bicycle friendly. There are bike paths and signs all over the desert cities. Please use our bikes. They are hanging in the garage.

We have 2 cars you are free to use: a Honda Accord and a 7 passenger Honda Odyssey.
Our insurance covers a guest driver for 30 days. The insurance info is in the pocket on the back of the passenger seat or in the glove box. Also check your own insurance for driving a borrowed car (possibly in a foreign country).

Palm Springs has its own International Airport, but you may have to fly in and out of either Ontario or LAX depending on your origin/destination. Ontario International is 75 miles (125 km) west and LAX is 120 miles (200 km) west.
