Notre maison

We have a wonderful home in the Oakland hills in an area that was completely rebuilt after a fire in 1991. My husband spent a year builing our place himself. It is a personal work of art. Surrounding homes are all very architecturally interesting. The weather here is near perfect all the time. You will enjoy the expansive kitchen with marble counter tops, our dining room that easily seats 8-10 people and our many outdoor relaxing spots -- the deck off the living room, the side patio, the grassy backyard hideaway. Our home is built on a slight slope and is three levels. Upstairs is a master bedroom with king adjustable bed, its own deck and views of downtown Oakland, S.F., the Golden Gate Bridge, and Angel Island. On the main floor are our living, dining, family room and kitchen. Downstairs are two more spacious bedrooms each with queen beds and a shared bath. We hope that you'll feel right at home here, only better!

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. My name is Sharon. I am 61 and a psychotherapist. My husband, Jim, 65, is a building inspector. We love to travel, although we don't get away nearly as much as we'd like. We have been throughout much of the U.S. and some of Europe and have loved every minute of it. We have had many travellers stay with us while they learn English at the local English Language school. It has been great fun to share our home and the surrounding area with them. We have done three home exchange so far and believe it is a great way to have access to more places and also to offer what we have available to others.

Our neighborhood is in a beautiful, safe, and upscale area called "Upper Rockridge" on the Oakland/Berkeley border. We are just a 20 minute walk from a terrific shopping area with many of the finest restaurants around, Oakland also boasts a symphony, the Oakland Museum of California and boating on Lake Merritt. The University is close by in Berkeley. The connection to BART (the local public transportation system) and buses is just down the hill from us (you can walk down easily, but unless you're in good shape, plan to take a cab or Uber up the hill to get home. In non-commute times S.F. is just 15 minutes away by car or BART. If you are interested in a bigger outing -- go wine tasting in the Napa Valley (1.5 hrs.), tidepooling in the ocean at Half Moon Bay or sunning yourself at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk (1.5 hrs.), gambling or skiing in Lake Tahoe (3 hrs.), explore the State Capitol in Sacramento (1 hr.), or just relax in the redwood parks just 10 minutes away from our house. This area has so much to offer.
