Notre maison

Our cottage sits 14 steps up from the beach. The view from the deck and house is absolutely breathtaking. It is extremely relaxing to watch the sun or moon rise, entertain and enjoy meals on the deck, enjoy fires on the beach, or relax in the hot tub, especially with the sound of the inviting surf of Lake Michigan. The cottage is very clean, bright, cozy, open and sunny. It is on a private lot with two wood lots on each side. It sits back from the road with gardens to welcome your arrival. We have bikes, 2 kayaks, and a canoe for your enjoyment. Acres of woods and well marked hiking trails are right out the front door.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. I am a retired elementary school teacher. My husband is professionally employed. We have two grown children. We all love to travel. We also love spending a lot of time at our wonderful retreat in the Leelanau Peninsula. We have had three successful home exchanges, one in Italy, one in California, and one in North Carolina. We are also hoping to be able to also include one or two of our adult children in an exchange sometime in the near future.

The cottage is located in a private and very wooded association called, "Cherry Home Shores." You can view this website at www.cherryhomeshores.com There is a main club house with tennis courts, basketball courts, hiking trails, and a children's playground. There are also four beaches/parks available for members/guests only. We are located two miles south of the tip of the peninsula and the Grand Traverse Lighthouse Park. We are also one mile north of Leelanau State Park which has many hiking trails and miles of sandy beach on the western side of the peninsula. We are seven miles north of the quant harbor town of Northport which has everything you need. The cottage is located 26 miles north of Traverse City. We are also 12 miles from Suttons Bay, and 16 miles from Leland. The Old Mission Peninsula is also quite near. There are 22 wineries as well as exquisite restaurants in the Leelanau Peninsula. We are also 45 minutes from Glen Arbor and Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park and Lakeshore. In a recent article in the New York Post, David Landsel wrote raving reviews about the Leelanau Peninsula. Here is a quote from his article, "The Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is beautiful indeed. In a part of the country like this one, up at the northeast corner of Lake Michigan, where the seasons play out like Currier & Ives prints amped up with high-resolution-picture perfect and also kind of unreal — nature becomes a serious distraction. In-the-dark coastal types might have raised their eyebrows, when “Good Morning America” dubbed Michigan’s Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore the “Most Beautiful Place in America” last year, but the show really wasn’t kidding."
