We have a a sleek but cosy 1-BR apartment on the Upper East Side. Our apartment is in a modern, high-rise condominium building and has huge wrap-around windows. The southern exposure overlooks all of Manhattan, with clear views of the Empire State and Chrysler. The eastern exposure has gorgeous views of the East River, with the tugboats and ferries that cross all day long, as well as of the Manhattan and Queensboro bridges.
Our building is the tallest in the neighbourhood, so the view is incomparable.
The apartment has all amenities (such as DSL/Dishwasher etc) and has a private gym on the top floor and laundry in the basement.
My husband (Brian) and I (Aditi) are a young professional couple. We would like to attend my brother's graduation from Insead in December. Though we haven't exchanged homes previously, and are a little nervous, we are excited by the prospect of having an authentic Parisian experience (a first visit for both).
We are very house-proud and take exceptionally good care of our apartment and are hoping for a similar ethic.
Please contact me with any further questions you may have.
The neighborhood is upscale residential, has fabulous restaurants, exciting nightlife, and is especially lively in the evening/nighttime. It is a fantastic location for foodies, as the restaurants in the area are superb, and about 4 to a block. We are in free 15-minute delivery radius for at least 300 restaurants.
It's also great for families, because of the large number of parks and museums and kid-friendly activities close by. A beautiful public park (Carl Schurz) attached to an old estate, that runs along the East River, is only two blocks away. The heart of Central Park is no more than a five minute walk, and the Metropolitan Museum takes about 10 to 12 minutes to reach on foot (the Whitney, Guggenheim, Fricke Collection, etc. are also extremely close).
For transportation, we are connected to the green line. The subway stop at 86th Street and Lexington (4,5,6 trains) is a 7-minute walk, The express train that runs from there takes about 8 to 10 minutes to reach Grand Central and about 12 to 15 minutes to reach Union Square. There is another stop at 96th and Lexington for the local 6 train. An express bus route along Second Avenue is also available directly across the block.
To give you context, a cab hailed at the doorstep will take you to Rockefeller Center / to the East Village/ to Grand Central/ to Tribeca and Soho for about $9 to $14 in 7 to 14 minutes depending on traffic. There is just nothing that is very far apart within Manhattan.
