Notre maison

Our house is a 1958 raised split level at the end of a cul de sac. It has an attached 2-car garage. There is a large playroom, and an additional basement play room with table tennis.

The main level has a large living room, dining room, and kitchen. On the first upper level are the master bedroom, two children's bedrooms, and two bathrooms. Finally, on the top level are the guest bedroom and the study.

Our home is filled with books, including many children's books, toys (blocks, board games -- chess, Carcassone, Settlers of Catan, etc. -- puzzles). We have a good stereo system with about 600 CDs (classical, jazz, rock), and many DVDs with a TV with cable in the living room.

There is a side yard with a swing set, and a back yard with a patio, picnic table and propane grill.

It's a great home to stay in with children, particularly if you are having trouble finding a place with enough space in NYC.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. I am the director of an nonprofit education organization; my wife is a writer and psychotherapist. We have two children -- Zoe, who will turn 7 in March 08, and Theo, who will turn 5 in August 08.

We've been to Europe once with the children and loved it -- Lisa and I both speak a (very) small amount of French, and Zoe is learning it as well.

We have not done an exchange before, but would be very respectful of your home and things -- as we would expect you to be with ours.

Montclair is a beautiful town only 13 miles west of midtown Manhattan. Easy access to NYC by both bus and train - bus takes 30 to 45 minutes, train about 45 to 50 minutes. The bus leaves from the end of our block; the train is a 10-minute walk.

Besides proximity to NYC, Montclair offers great parks, cuisine (Thai, Japanese, French, Indian, "fusion," Italian, etc.), a good art museum, movie theaters, and boutique shopping.

The house is walking distance from a supermarket, several restaurants, and a small shopping district.
