Notre maison

Kansas City is referred to as "the heart of America" as it isÂ in the middle of America - it is also known as being theÂ "gateway" to the West. If you are interested in seeing the West, KansasÂ City is a very easy drive to the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. TheÂ drive itself is very scenic, taking you through the prairies andÂ sunflower fields of Kansas as you climb into the foothills of the RockyÂ Mountains as you near Denver. From Denver, it is aÂ gorgeous drive to Aspen. Aspen is a premier skiing townÂ in the winter, but in the summer, there are host of other outdoorÂ activities to partake in, from canoeing, mountain climbing, biking andÂ hiking. The beauty of Aspen in the summer is that you get luxuryÂ accommodations at bargain basement prices. If you are into camping,Â another beautiful drive from Denver is Rocky Mountain National parkÂ located in Estes Park, Colorado. In Estes Park you can soak up theÂ mountains, go horseback riding or have a round of golf and you can choose any kind ofÂ accommodations you can imagine, from tents to cabins to luxury chalets.

If the bright lights of the big city are more your taste, but youÂ don't want to spend the entire summer in an expensive city, then KansasÂ City is the place for you as we are just a 2 hour flight to Chicago or a 3 hour flight to most destinations in New York or California. Bargain air travel is easy to arrange. Train service is also available.

My husband is a professor who will be taking a sabbatical in the summer of 2006. He will be working on a research project in Europe from May to July 2006. His research willÂ have him traveling to 5 different cities in Europe. We are looking to be in Barcelona from the end of May until the end of June, in Northern Italy the last week of June and London the 1st 18 days of July, with a side trip to Edinburgh around the 5th of July. We will be traveling with our son Andrew, 16 yrs and our daughter Tara,Â 20 yrs. Other family members might join us from time to time, but we'll believe it when we see it.

We live in an older three-story home located in a quiet neighborhood of Kansas City, whichis located in the center of America. Use our home
as a base as you travel by plane, car or train to any city inÂ America, yet experience the true living experience of most Americans when you are
relaxing at home in Kansas City. Kansas City is a medium-sized city that in and of itself has much toÂ offer. Our home is an easy walk to a world renowned art museum and anÂ upscale shopping district. We also offer theater, symphony, 4 starÂ dining, many parks, golf, tennis and walking trails. If blues or jazzÂ music is of interest to you, we have many fine venues featuring thisÂ type of music. Kansas City is also home to a major league baseballÂ team, the Kansas City Royals and to a national football team, theÂ Kansas City Chiefs. If you are interested in taking a college course,Â there are many universities to choose from, the closest being theÂ University of Missouri and the University of Kansas. My husbandÂ teaches doctoral students at both of these universities. If bargainÂ shopping is in your plans, Kansas city has several retail outlets toÂ choose from to find the bargain of a lifetime. Or, if you are lookingÂ to take home a fine antique at wholesale prices. Personally, estate salingÂ
is one of my true loves and my home is filled with many wonderful itemsÂ that I've found at these sales.
