Restored farmhouse on 10 acres of pasture, forest and wetland. Our colorful, sunny house has three bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a considerable amount of art and relics from our extensive travels. We have a large beautiful informal flower gardens, and some very large trees. We also have a 20 ft diameter tipi and a 16 ft diameter trampoline in the back pasture. Hood River hosts the Pacific Northwests largest equestrian festival each summer. We have central heating and an enameled cast iron, soapstone and glass woodstove. Celing fans and old fir floors. The dining area has a large old teak table and candle chandelier.
I'm a 52 year old medical physician and my wife is an registered nurse. We have 14 and 10 year old daughters that are both beginning to study Spanish. We participate in many sport and cultural activities and we've traveled around the world for a year as a family in 2002.
The house sits between two creeks and has a spring fed pond. We are in a tucked into the north end of a small valley near glaciated mountains and beautiful rivers. Hood River is known as the wind surfing and kite boarding capital of North America. We also have tremendous river kayaking and both mountain and road biking. . There are also two wonderful ski areas nearby. The closest, Mt Hood Meadows, is 28 miles away and was open November-May last season. The other ski area is open year round (summer glacier skiing).
We have a barn, but currently do not have horses, however two of our nearest neighbors have commercial riding stables and indoor arenas.
Hood River has become quite a little art center over the last 15 years. The community has an active theater scene and several movie houses and galleries. Yet, Hood River has managed to maintain it's small farm community atmosphere. The schools are good and the streets are safe. We have many diverse and good places to eat out.
Portland, Oregon's largest city, is a magnificent one hour drive to the West through the Columbia River Gorge. The international airport is just this side of Portland.
The dramatic pacific coast is slightly over two hours away. The desert starts about 30 miles East of Hood River.
