En savoir plus sur nous

  1. Ken is a real estate lawyer and mediator in California and Moira is a retired health consultant for hospital based cancer programs. We first visited Hana for one night on our honeymoon in 1971 and have been returning ever since. The house-- Kulapono-- was constructed in 1995 and we now visit and work from Hana for 6 to 8 weeks a year. We have traded the house for a cottage in Nantucket, an apartment in Paris, a Victorian cottage in the California wine country, a Beach House in South Carolina, Volcano Mist Cottage on the Big Island of Hawaii,a country home in Dordogne, a lodge in Lake Tahoe, a home in Santa Fe, and a retreat center in Assisi Italy. Each exchange has been an enjoyable way to share Hana with appreciative guests and visit beutiful places. We will provide additional details and suggestions for visitors. The house has a library with books about the Hana Coast and Maui. The House has also high speed internet, stereo with ipod dock, as well as 30 banana plants which produce ripe fruit throughout the year.

Hana is a restful, former sugar plantation town located in East Maui and favored by travelers (and celebrities) who seek to relax and enjoy Maui away from the flood of tourism. Hamoa Beach (with a view to the Big Island on a clear day) is located 5 miles from the House and provides good surfing and swimming. Sunset Magazine in July 2008, named Hamoa Beach as the #1 secret beach. Dr. Beach recently rated Hamoa Beach #2 for Hawaii Beaches. We're located 30 minutes from Oheo Gulch and its many pools, 5 mniutes from the black sand beach at Waianapanapa, 10 minutes from Red Sand Beach, and 10 minutes from Hotel Hana Maui now called Travasaa. For those fortunate to visit Hana, Mark Twain's words written in 1866, in a private letter to his sister-in-law, remain equally true today: "I have got back from a sea voyage from the beautiful Island of Maui. I have spent five weeks there riding backwards and forwards among the sugar plantations. I have not written a single line and have not once thought of business, or care or human toil or touble or sorrow or weariness. Few such months come in a life time. I went to Maui for a week and stayed five." Hana represents the best of "Old Hawaii."
