Notre maison

This charming vacation home in the Appalachian mountains fronts on pristine Lake Glenville with private dock. The 50-year-old 2-story cottage is built into the mountainside with full-length decks overlooking the lake on both floors. Upstairs (entry level)includes pine-paneled living area with cathedral ceiling opening to kitchen and deck; large new light-filled master bedroom (queen) has wall of windows and French doors to deck, small pleasant 2nd bedroom (queen), and tiled bath w/ combination shower/tub. Downstairs is open floor-plan 3rd sleeping (2 twin) area/recreation room, w/large windows to deck, large new tiled bathroom with combination shower/tub. Furnishings are mix of American antigues and Adirondack-style log furniture. Slight-sloped driveway lined with native Rhodadendrons and ivy provides easy access(1-step)to house. We use this home for our family only- have never rented it. Ski boat/automobile options available.

Husband & I are residents of Tallahassee, FL, Our 3 kids are grown and on their own, but younger son, 22-year-old graduating from college this year, might want to join us part time as exchanger. We are most interested in traveling during month of July or early August this year ('06)either to Europe, Canada, or West Coast of USA, but our mountain lake home in NC is available almost anytime so exchange does not need to be simultaneous.

Strawberry Hill neighborhood consists of upscale vacation homes on large treed lots -- all overlooking or fronting on lake, and sharing a tennis court for informal play. Lake Glenville-the highest lake of it's size east of the MIssissippi-is popular for swimming, canoeing/kayaking, water skiing, & fishing. Scenic mountain drive from upscale summer resort towns of Cashiers (20 min) & Highlands (30 min)with numerous shops, golf courses (most open to public)and excellent restaurants. House is 2.5 hour drive from ATL, 1.5 hour from Asheville.
