Notre maison

This typical California bungalow was built in the late fifties or early sixties. We are writers. We've owned it for the last three years and use it as an office and a place to stay when we wish to be close to San Francisco. The appliances are all updated, the paint is fresh, the furniture is new and/or nice. Heating is from a floor register and a fireplace. Cooling is from a portable air conditioner. The house is on a quiet street, song birds are your greatest distraction. The backyard is fenced and private, with a deck that wraps around the house to the kitchen. There is off-street parking. Our primary home is on the Pacific coast an hour north of Fairfax. We lived in Fairfax for several years prior to moving north; it is a vibrant village filled with fine restaurants and a seven day a week live music scene, intriguing locally-owned and operated shops, a bookstore, and cafés. It is at the base of Mt. Tamalpais: gorgeous wildlands ideal for biking, hiking, and horseback riding. Fifteen minutes east is the high-speed ferry to San Francisco; the city is a half an hour drive during non-commute hours and across the Golden Gate Bridge. Fairfax combines the urbane and the rural. The Pt. Reyes National Seashore and the Pacific Ocean are about a half an hour's drive west.
