Our home is a charming Cape Cod that is clean, bright, and cozy. The floor plan is open and inviting. The large front porch overlooks hillsides and a sweeping front yard, whilst the privacy of the rear deck affords views of gardens, trees, bushes, and a short walking trail to explore the three acres of property. There is also a large fire pit and an abundance of wood to burn and sing campfire songs around.
Inside you'll find three bedrooms, one with a single bed, on with a crib and full-sized bed, and one with a queen sized bed. There are two baths (one has a jucuzi tub the other a shower) There is living room (couch and chairs), dining room (large farm table), and kitchen. The floors are a mix of hard and soft woods, tile, carpet, and rugs.
We are Matt and Mary Clay, a professional couple with two small children (4 and 1.5 years). We both work in higher education at local universities. We enjoy traveling and experiencing the joys of live. We have not participated in a home exchange before but look forward to the opportunity.
We want to arrange an exchange some way in advance in order to get to know our fellow exchangers via email first to see how best we can facilitate our respective home stays.
The location of our home offers the best of both worlds. We are situated in the picturesque and historical Champlain Valley of nothern Vermont.
Our home is surrounded by a mixture of hills, farms, and forest. In spite of our rural setting, the conveniences of a small town (groceries, restaurants, movie theatre) are a short distance away (3 miles.)
Vermont's largest city, Burlington (12 miles), is located on the shores of Lake Champlain offering views of the Adirondack Mts. to the west and the Green Mts. to the east. http://www.ci.burlington.vt.us/
There is an abundance of shopping, cafes, nightlife, museums, farmer's markets, as well as beaches, swimming, kayaking, sailing, cycling, and any number of outdoor activites available in and around Burlington.
Distances to other locations:
Montreal: 100 miles
Boston: 200 miles
New York City: 300 miles
Our neighbourhood is safe, friendly, and quiet. It is a wonderful place for children and adults alike.
