Notre maison

Our 100-year-old heritage home has both charm and character. It has been updated with a new kitchen and bathrooms, and has re-finished original fir floors in the lovely dining room and the four upstairs bedrooms. The kitchen looks out onto a large yard with a trampoline, swing and playhouse. The living room has a fireplace for warm and cozy winter evenings, and a huge front window has a wonderful view of the mountains and Kootenay Lake. Our home is both clean and comfortably furnished. Having two children ourselves, it contains a variety of toys and games for young and old. There is a good upright piano in the dining room. We are non-smokers and have no pets. (*No smoking please*) Our property (1+ acre) is both centrally located and quite private, with empty lots on both sides of it. A creek runs year-round on one side of the house, with a picturesque foot bridge approaching from the side street. It is an easy walk (8 min) to downtown, (4 min) to shopping, (4 min) to parks and (6 min) to the lakefront. For winter exchanges, our home would be a great home base for skiers/snowboarders wanting to experience this gem of a ski town!

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. We are Ian and Rita, a married couple with two children (7 & 10 years old). Ian is a computer programmer, and Rita is a classical guitarist & teacher. We are interested in visiting somewhere warm and sunny for 2-6 weeks in January-February of 2010. Our timing is flexible. We can arrange non-simultaneous exchanges, if people want to visit Nelson at other times of the year. We can offer bicycles, a canoe & kayak, and a variety of snow and ski gear for you to use. We are very consciencious and respectful people, and would treat your home with great care.

Nestled on the shore of Kootenay Lake in the heart of the Selkirk Mountains, and near two world-class ski resorts, Nelson is both a summer and winter tourist destination. Whitewater Ski Resort is 20 minutes away, and Red Mountain is a 1 hour drive. The area is known for it's fabulous skiing and outdoor recreation, including back-country skiing & touring, hiking, climbing, boating, kayaking and mountain biking... If you are into outdoor sports, you will love this town! Nelson is also the home of a large number of artists and artisans, and has been rated "The Best Small Arts Town in Canada!" A vibrant downtown has art galleries, theatres, restaurants and cafes to visit, and a scenic 40-min drive up Kootenay Lake will take you to Ainsworth Hot Springs. This is a wonderful place to live! The closest international airport is Spokane (3 hours). A shuttle service operates between Spokane and Nelson. One can also fly to Castlegar (40 minutes away) via Vancouver or Calgary.
