Notre maison

Spend an exciting day or evening in Seattle, then take a romantic ferry ride across Puget Sound with a view of the massive, snow covered Mt. Rainier and the chance of spotting whales, harbor seals, and sea lions.

Our home in Bremerton is spacious and bright. With numerous windows and the trees outside, our guests tell us they feel like they're in a tree house. The colors, comfortable furniture, carpeting, and hardwood floor give it great warmth. The house is filled with books and has a modern kitchen that's joy to cook in. We have two decks, both with views of Mt. Rainier and the waters of Puget Sound; during our glorious summers and autumns, the decks are wonderful places for breakfast, lunch and dinner. On our rare hot summer days, air conditioning keeps the house comfortable.

On the ground floor (162 square meters)are the living room, dining room, kitchen, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, an office area with computer (a Mac) and fax machine, and the laundry. The downstairs (70 square meters) is accessible from an outside stairway and includes a bedroom/living room, a bathroom, and another office area with a computer.

Our car may be included - a 2008 Honda Civic hybrid.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. My wife Marilee is a retired high school principal who has since served on the boards of many non profit organizations, as president and as a fund raiser. She is also a past president of her Rotary club. I (Rob) am a retired private school teacher and freelance wilderness guide who now is a newspaper columnist.

We met while students in Vienna, Austria, many years ago. Since then Marilee has led many student groups on tours of Europe and I have led many student groups on wildrness trips. Together we have traveled widely in Europe, Asia, and North America. We have hosted nine international students through the Rotary Youth Exchange Program, and two years ago we had a mutually rewarding home exchange with a family in Switzerland.

    We don't smoke.

The house is near the top of a hill, near the end of a dead end street. We are 10 minutes by car from downtown Bremerton, Kitsap County, a town of 35,000 people, where a one-hour ferry ride takes you to Seattle and its numerous opportunities for shopping, dining, theater, concerts sightseeing, and professional sports.

We are two and a half hours by car from the beaches of the Pacific Ocean, two to three hours from Victoria and Vancouver, British Columbia, one to two hours from trail heads for hiking in the Olympic Mountains and Olympic National Park. In other words, our home is a place for a comfortable and restful retreat from the city as well as a base from which to explore the beauties and recreational opportunities of the Pacific Northwest.
