Notre maison

We have a family-friendly home in a peaceful, treed neighborhood. Our house stands on a 1/3 acre lot, with a very private backyard. There are giant douglas firs in the front, and spruce, fir, and pine in the back. In the summer we enjoy our two tiered deck with the gas grill and seating for 9. There is a table out there and if the evening is cool we light the chimnea. Indoors, we have all the conveniences, including an oversized jacuzzi tub in the main bath. The children enjoy their play/family room full of toys, games, and their own computer and television. One of the bedrooms is downstairs, and I use it as a study also (it has a second computer, desk, fax, printer). Upstairs we enjoy our wide-screen high-definition TV. The main bedroom has ensuite plumbing, including a shower. I have completed a number of updates in the house (including tiling two baths) and will probably have a new kitchen by the end of the year. A Honda Odyssey van is available for exchange.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. Bernard is a clinical psychologist. Tonia is a social worker. Ariana, age 9, and Anton, age 7, attend school about a mile from the house. This summer (2007) we did our annual trip to Canada (Vancouver, B.C. is 6 hours away and can be reached by car, train, or bus). We really enjoy Oregon in the summer so we spent a few days on Mount Hood, several days camping on the coast, and a couple of days in the scenic Columbia Gorge.

Beaverton is 15 minutes from downtown Portland, Oregon. In Portland, there are all the museums, art galleries, great restaurants, high rises, and fountains. Beaverton is the next suburb out from Portland, with more coffee houses and espresso bars than fine restaurants. Our neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. Hours can go by in the evening wiithout a car passing. We are only a block from the nearest woods, which have lovely trails (part of the Tualatin Hills Recreation District). There are many bike paths and trails throughout Beaverton, as well as recreation centers with swimming pools. Only an hour from the ocean and the Oregon coast, which is wonderfully uncrowded. On the other side of Portland, Mount Hood can be reached in an hour and a half from our neighborhood. There are many trails, hikes, cliimbs, and a summer bobsled on the mountain. At Timberline, you can even ski the glacier in the summer! There are excellent day camps close to our neighborhood, which would be an interesting way for children to get to know others while engaged in a preferred activity.
