Notre maison

We offer a comfortable 2 storey, 4 bedroom, 2 full bath home on a quiet street of family homes. Large fully equipped kitchen, with breakfast room and separate dining room. Family room with cable TV (HBO), fireplace in the living room. Central air conditioning. High speed cable internet connection and wireless. Outside deck and barbeque. Sunny and cheerful. We are walking distance to Old Town Alexandria (0.8 km), walking distance to a Metrorail station (0.3 km) with a 20 minute ride to the National Mall, and walking distance to the train station (0.4 km)-- connections to the entire east coast. We are near bike trails to both Washington and Mt. Vernon, 1.4 km to the Potomac river. (The photo is dated, the flowering azaleas are no longer there.)

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. Leonard and Karen have raised three children in this house. The oldest now works in New York, the two youngest are in college in Los Angeles, so they are not here much. Leonard is a management consultant; Karen works for the government. We have never swapped homes before. Now in our late 50's we'd like to try it.

The neighborhood was developed in the 1920s and features a large number of bungalow style homes, shade trees, park, and easy access to everything in the region (see above). Alexandria Old Town is a historic port on the Potomac River, with many 18th century buildings. George Washington's Mt. Vernon home is 12 miles south of the city, and he really did sleep here. One of his tobacco warehouses is now a Starbucks coffeehouse. Robert E. Lee's boyhood home is here. The town has a lively night life suitable for families. Check out the city web page at Washington D.C. is a short Metro ride away. Local recreation includes sailing on the Potomac, bikeing, and walking; with public swimming pools and tennis nearby.
