Notre maison

Our much loved home is a late Victorian cottage style house at one end of a row of five. It is on a quiet residential street with front and secluded rear gardens a one minute walk from the River Ouse. It is a lovely 15 minutes tree lined riverside walk into the centre of historic York and there are footpaths and cycle-paths into the surrounding countryside and to nearby villages. There is a lounge with bay window looking onto the front garden and a large rear kitchen/diner/lounge with doors opening onto a patio area and walled flower garden with trees at the rear. Upstairs there are three bedrooms, one with a queen size bed and two others which are used as sitting rooms and studies although there are futons in both. Although we would prefer a maximum of two people we could accommodate three or possibly four. There is a large bathroom with bath and shower as well as a downstairs washroom. We are sorry but our home and garden are not suitable for children.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. I am retired teacher who advised on working with children with emotional and behavioural problems and Mick was a fire fighter and later the manager of an arson reduction task force. We are a retired couple who have travelled a great deal in Europe and visit Canada every year.
We are particularly looking for an exchange to downtown Toronto (close to the St Lawrence Market area) in order to spend time with our family. We would consider offers from other locations.
We can offer a non simultaneous exchange.
We love and care for our home and would care for yours in the same way. We have now done five exchanges to downtown Toronto and they have all been a great success. Both we and our exchangees were very happy with each other's homes and locations and with how our own homes were respected and cared for.

The walled city of York is a major world class tourist destination with over 2,000 years of history. The Medieval city walls, historic buildings such as York Minster and Clifford's Tower, shops, restaurants, cafes, pubs, museums, theatres, cinemas and many other facilities are all within easy walking distance of our home.
There are excellent transport links including direct train connections to London (less than 2 hours by train), Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle and Edinburgh. York is also an ideal base for visiting the National Parks of the beautiful Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors as well as the tiny fishing villages of the North Yorkshire coast. There are unlimited opportunities for hiking in and exploring the beautiful Yorkshire countryside and its market towns and villages.
