Notre maison

Four bedroom (1 used as a study) semi detached house in the quiet village of Yarnton, 4 miles North of Oxford. Walk or cycle (we have bikes) along Canal or Thames path into Oxford (see photos) or take the bus from the village (15 min journey). The Oxfordshire countryside surrounds us - Blenheim Palace (UNESCO World Heritage Site) is 10 mins away as are beautiful Cotswold villages (see photos). Traditional English pubs abound! Many are in idyllic locations (e.g. The Trout on the river Thames - see photo). Cream Tea shops are also found all over. Our Home has rear garden with summer house, and off street parking. We have a comfortable 4 year old Vauxhall Zafira - mpv 5 / 7 seater - large boot space, which we are happy to include use of in the exchange if we fly to our exchange destination. If we drive and use our Zafira then you could have use of 4 year old Vauxhall Astra SRi. The Chilterns and the Ridgeway, are also close at hand via the M40 or A34. Central London can be accessed in about 60 -90 mins either by British Rail (Oxford) or by car (M40). There is also an hourly coach (that takes 75 minutes) to central London, which can be caught from the nearby park and ride (15 mins away). Local shops (Late opening convenience store, newsagents, farm shop, and 2 pubs both serving food) are within 500 metres away. The Midlands and the Welsh borders are also within an hours drive, so our excellent location makes for an ideal exchange and experience.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. Myself and my wife are secondary school teachers (I am a Deputy Head of the local Comprehensive school and specialise in Geography teaching, whilst my wife is a Drama specialist). Our children are 13 and 9 years old. We exchanged in summer 2006 and 2012 with a families in Perth, Western Australia and had a great time. Our exchange in the Loire valley for Summer '08 was also brilliant. We are interested for summer 2014 in either Europe - France/Spain, Belgium/Netherlands or elsewhere depending on location. Also would consider Cornwall e.g. Newquay, St. Ives. Also love skiing so interested in exchaging during the European ski season but only during the school holidays at Christmas and or Easter (I take a school group skiing to Italy each February holiday, so not able to exchange then - although non-simultaneous exchange is a possibility).

Warm approachable neighbours; Kidlington - 2 miles away has a leisure centre, large supermarket and other shops. Oxford has a full range of facilities and obviously lots of attractions and history. Cotswold water park (see photo) is about 40 minutes away and has an inland beach by a lake by the Thames and Woodstock (10 minutes away) has an open air swimming pool. You could hire a canal longboat for a day trip along the Oxford canal / Thames or take a longer trip over a few days to Henley on Thames, Marlow and Cookham - all beautiful places along the river. A walk in the cotswold ending with a cream tea or pint of English Ale. A Guided Ghost trail at night around Oxford which is a fun way to learn about some of the city's history or take the open top tour bus during the day. Horseriding in the Cotswolds. The Cheltenham Races.
