Notre maison

A welcome respite after a day sight-seeing in London come 'home' to this unique apartment with many original architectural features set within the exclusive gated area of the prestigious, award-winning Royal Arsenal Riverside. This split-level, well-appointed, corner apartment, is on the top floor with views of the Thames River and historic Arsenal buildings. The first level consists of open-plan lounge, dining and kitchen areas--complete with hob/oven, dishwasher, large fridge-freezer, microwave & washer/dryer. The spacious and light living area has two leather sofas, armchair and an additional double sofa bed in separate nook. Make use of the Digital TV, DVD player and WiFi internet. Off the entry hallway is a tiled, walk-in shower and WC with heated towel rail. A spiral staircase leads to two bedrooms, one with king bed and en suite bathroom, the other with three single beds.

The O2 Dome, Royal Greenwich, Tower of London, all London Attractions, City Airport and Olympic venues are minutes away by Thames Clipper, Rail, CrossRail, DLR/Tube, Bus or Foot. In 2021, the new Elizabeth Line Underground will open in London & stop within the Royal Arsenal-5 minutes walk. We have an assigned parking space outside the front door. Our flat comfortably sleeps 7 and there's plenty of space to spread out should you spend the day in so everyone can retreat to their own corner or room. We love to sit in the morning sun, read the paper and drink coffee at the dining table while enjoying the view of the historic buildings that surround us, or stay in bed and watch the birds and clouds drift by the skylights. The kids love to play games, watch TV/movies or hide out in their room on their electronic devices before we take off for our London adventures. Our home is decorated and appointed to reflect its London location, historic & royal roots. The Concierge, the Dial Arch Pub, Boulangerie Jade, Taproom/Hop Stuff Brewery, Con Gusto, The Guard House, Tesco's Express Grocery, Marks & Spencer Food Hall, Sainsbury's Local and ATM/Cash Till are just outside the gated courtyard on the way to the train and DLR/Tube. The Thames Clipper is on the pier just outside the gate and across from our home. The high speed Elizabeth Underground station will open within the Royal Arsenal in 2021 providing a direct connection to Oxford Street, Heathrow and points in between. London City Airport with direct flights to Ireland, Paris & Scotland is two stops away on the DLR. No other location in London has so many efficient and direct transport options to get anywhere in London, the British Isles & beyond.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. My husband Tim and I, Andrea have three children--two girls ages 22 & 20 and a son who is 15. (Although these days we are traveling more on our own!) Formerly, Tim worked for an international consumer products company and I for a nonprofit and in international education. We now own PUZZLES--specializing in all things puzzling & Lewes Gourmet--specializing in British & hard to locate international fare in historic, maritime Lewes, DE. We have lived as expats for most of our lives calling multiple European countries & America "home". We enjoy sharing our London home with guests from all over the world--many from countries in which we have lived. We purchased our London flat to have a permanent place to call "home", but also because London is such a fabulous and easy city to experience, whatever your age or interest. (Our picture was taken at UP at the O2--Just Do It!) There is always something new to do or a favourite place to revisit. We have lived in London at all points on the compass and the Royal Arsenal is truly a one-of-a-kind experience. Historically significant to not just the United Kingdom but the world. The "rockets red glare, the bombs bursting in air" were from the Royal Arsenal. As a family, we love to travel and experience new places, meet new people, learn new ways of doing things and new perspectives. Recognising all the while just how connected our world really is. Having participated in 10 home exchanges already, we so value the experiential opportunity to live life from a another's perspective.

We have historically exchanged as a family but with two of the kids now at university--we are about to embark on our first exchange as just a couple.

Dating from 1545 and the reign of Henry VIII, the historic Royal Arsenal comprises listed Georgian & Victorian buildings. Many artifacts, cannons and artistic installations are positioned throughout the development, and you can learn about its history at the Greenwich Heritage Centre--along with the many informational panels doted around the Arsenal.

Our building which used to hold stores for the Royal Navy is in the gated Heritage Quarter or Golden Square which encompasses the Grand Store and several historic and listed buildings. Adjacent to the Thames, this area is considered the premier location in the development and is known as The Heritage Quarter or Golden Square.

Within metres of the apartment you will find Wellington Park, Dial Arch Pub (birthplace of the Arsenal Football Club)--The Gunners, Tesco's, Sainsbury's & Marks & Spencers Supermarkets, Cornerstone Cafe, Taproom/Hop Stuff Brewery, Con Gusto, The Guard House, and the Greenwich Heritage Centre.

It is so quick, easy and comfortable to take the Train, DLR-Tube, Thames Clipper River Boat or high speed Elizabeth Underground Line (from 2019 straight to Oxford Street & Heathrow) to Royal Greenwich/O2, Canary Wharf, Cannon St./The City, Tower Bridge, Tower of London, London Bridge, Embankment, Charing Cross (Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square/Piccadilly Circus, Big Ben-Houses of Parliament, The Strand, Covent Garden), Waterloo (London Eye-SouthBank), Westminster and Victoria Stations or Piers/Central London. Your bonus will be unique and breathtaking views of many of London's most famous and recognisible landmarks from the comfort of your own seat (unlike the crowded underground). And you'll be dropped on the doorstep of or within a short walk/bus ride of all the London sites and attractions you'll want to visit. Staying at the Royal Arsenal is a unique and one-of-a-kind experience and you will be minutes from all that you want to do while in London.

London City Airport is two stops away on the DLR with direct flights to Ireland, Paris, Scotland, Germany and beyond.

Locally Woolwich has a lively, authentic street market and shopping precinct. On the waterfront is a swimming and racquet sports centre, and the Thames River Path will take you past the Woolwich Free Ferry, famous Thames Barrier on to Royal Greenwich (Maritime Museum, Observatory, Park & Cutty Sark), the O2 (restaurants, concerts, cinema, exhibitions, theatre), Canary Wharf and beyond. The world's oldest Golf Club, the Royal Blackheath is a short drive or bus ride away and welcomes visitors. The club museum houses the world's oldest golfing medal and England's oldest golf club. Eltham Palace, the childhood home of King Henry VIII is across the street from the Royal Blackheath.

Woolwich and the Royal Borough of Greenwich were also Olympic venues.
