Notre maison

Our home, built in the mid-60s, is light and airy with floor to ceiling windows on the south side giving wonderful views over south-west London from the living room and master bedroom. The house is on three floors, with stairs up to the three bedrooms and down to the study, utility room and small patio garden. It is carpeted on two floors (making it cosy in winter), has all the mod cons and is easy to look after.
The house in on an estate surrounded by mature gardens which are cared for by professional gardeners. It is a quiet area, not far from Wimbledon Common (great for walkers and golfers), and equidistant from Wimbledon Town and Wimbledon Village.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. We are both writers, Ian an author (maritime and military history) and Wendy a former journalist. We are keen walkers and tennis players - we live very close to a tennis club which welcomes visitors.
We have three married children and seven delightful grandchildren – our son, married to an Australian, produced our seventh at the end of August. We have now arranged two swaps so we can spend time in Melbourne with them (Dec/Jan).
We aren't sure about 2008 (perhaps an offer in Europe will come along to tempt us) but we would like to return to Australia in 2009, to see Cape York.

Wimbledon is renowned for the lawn tennis championships (which take place end June/early July) but is also one of London's smartest and busiest suburbs. It is the terminus for the District Line (London Underground) and is also on the south-west train route. It is 15 minutes by train to Waterloo, until November the home of Eurostar, the fast rail connection to the continent. From November Eurostar will leave from London St Pancras which can be reached by Underground. Wimbledon also has a tram service to Croydon.
Wimbledon Village. On the edge of the Common, offers shops, restaurants and pubs as well as horse-riding. Wimbledon Town, down the hill, has supermarkets, large shopping centre, theatre (with pre West End show), cinema complex, innumerable restaurants, pubs and wine bars, plus health centres and municipal swimming pool.
