Notre maison

The Old Schoolhouse is a semi-detached stone Cottage (attached to the Old School Hall) built in the early 19th century. It is located up a country lane only 10 minutes drive to the centre of Stirling City. It has 2 bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs; downstairs is a cosy lounge and dining room with an open coal fireplace. French doors lead out to a quaint little garden and sitting area. The kitchen has all the mod cons including a built in fridge/freezer, microwave, washing machine and dishwasher. It also has a wood burner. We have plenty of coal and logs for the fireplaces, but doubt whether you'll need it during the summer. There is a separate toilet and cloak room downstairs.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. We are Gavin (Scottish) & Sharon (Australian) living in Scotland for the past 4 years. Before that we spent 13 years in the Middle East and during that time travelled extensively. We have 3 children all grown up and living in Australia so we find ourselves going back and forth there quite a bit.

Gavin has retired after a successful career in the Agricultural Industry and spends most of his time walking in the magnificent hills of Scotland. Sharon works full time caring for young people with learning disabilities.

Our first home exchange was so successful that we are considering another September/October 2018. Gavin drives a 2004 Audi TT (5 speed Manual) which would be available.

Our wee Cottage is located less than 15 minutes drive to the centre of Stirling City. Stirlingshire is known as the Heart of Scotland and Stirling the Gateway to the Highlands. The site of the Battle of Stirling Bridge, the magnificent Stirling Castle, the Wallace Monument and the Battle of Bannockburn Visitors' Centre are all worth a visit. Stirling has excellent shopping at the Thistle Centre, restaurants, bars and nightlife.

If you are into the outdoors you are spoilt for choice for walks. The Ochil Hills separating the Highlands from the Lowlands are only 20 minutes away. The famous Gleneagles Golf Course is less than half an hours drive north of Stirling, however there are many other courses close by. Loch Lomond and the Trossachs are all within an easy one hour's drive from the Cottage.

Our home is close to the motorways taking you west to Glasgow, east to Edinburgh and north to Perth and the Higlands.
