Notre maison

Our family home is clean, comfortable and well presented. The two living rooms have been joined to create a spacious wooden floored living/dining room (9.2m x 3.96m) with 2 sofas, one sofa bed and a dining table. The French doors to the rear lead to a back patio and the garden. The fitted kitchen (3.66m x 2.44m) has a serving hatch accessing the dining area. The upstairs contains the master bedroom (4.47m x 3.3m), which has a double bed, the rear bedroom (4.47m x 3.12m) containing 2 single beds and the third bedroom/office (2.62 x 2.13m), which has a single bunk bed and computer.
The part tiled bathroom contains a bath with mixer taps and shower cubicle. There is a seperate toilet room.
The front garden is paved and has parking space for 2 vehicles). The back garden is approximately 20m long and has 2 stone patio areas.
We have 2 children, aged 5 and 3, so the house is child proofed and we can attach gates at the top and bottom of the stairs, if required. We have a cleaner. who comes once a week.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. We are Sally and David, a married couple with two (well behaved) children, Nathan,5 and Bethan, 3. We are both teachers. Sally teaches foreign languages (and is fluent in French and German and speaks conversational Italian) and David teaches reception aged children (4-5). We travelled extensively in Europe and further afield before our children were born.

We are new to home exchanges but we are very keen on the idea of getting a resident's perspective on the place that we are staying at, as well as sharing our own knowledge of our local area to, hopefully, make your stay more enjoyable.

Our home is in a leafy, quiet street in Stanmore, which is a safe and attractive suburb of London. We are 3/4 mile (an 18 minute walk or short bus ride) from Cannons Park underground station on the Jubilee Line, which gives direct access to the centre of London in 30 minutes and Stratford (for the Olympic Stadium) in 60 minutes. The last tube back from central London leaves at about 12.30 am and there at Taxis at Cannons Park station if you don't want to walk or drive back.

Stanmore High Street has a range of cafes, restaurants and bars. There are a range of places of worship nearby, including Church of England and Baptist churches, a synagogue and a new Hindu Temple.

Stanmore was home to Bentley Priory (from which the Battle of Britain was controlled) and there is an attractive walk around Bently Priory, leading to a Deer Park. There are several parks within walking distance, including Canons Park, which contains attractive gardens and a large children's playground. Historic Harrow on the Hill (4 miles away) is home to the famous public school and has a number of attractive cafes and restaurants.

Our home is 2 miles from the M1 motorway and has easy access to the M25 and M4. The historic city of St Albans is less than 30 minutes drive by car. We are 35 miles (less than 1 hour by car) from Windsor castle and Legoland (Thorpe Park for older children is slightly closer). Oxford and Cambridge are about 55 miles away (less than one and a half hours by car).
For younger children, within a 25 minute drive, there are narrow gauge railways and lidos in both Watford and Ruislip as well as several soft play centres and Willows Farm village and park.
