En savoir plus sur nous

  1. We are a family of four: Andy and Dawn; parents in their late 40’s with 2 very late teen age children. We are a professional couple; engineer and social worker, as a family we enjoy exploring different countries, their history, cultures and taking part in outdoor activities. We would treat any home we exchange with, with respect and would leave it clean, in same condition and tidy, similarly we would expect our home to be treated with the same respect. We have a good sense of humor are friendly and would be happy to provide as much information as required to ensure you enjoy your visit.

Our home is situated in a rural community near a farm with good neighbors close by. The bus stops at the bottom of the road and takes locals to Edinburgh and all the small towns leading to it as well as into all the Scottish Border towns. There is a local church, school, community hall (which has various social occasions at different times of the year). There are great walks all over the area with views that allow you to see right over to the River Forth outside Edinburgh.

Local Places To Go:
Quality restaurants/ bistros/ outdoor and indoor activities locally and in Edinburgh/ Scottish Borders. There are also many tour services in Edinburgh that can take you all over Scotland to experience the Highlands, Lowlands and Islands if you wish.

Edinburgh: great shopping and nightlife particularly during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe (that includes the jazz, book and food festivals) which is a great cultural, educational and good fun experience! Edinburgh castle, Holyrood Palace, a city volcano; Arthur Seat, Edinburgh Military Tattoo, old medieval town combined with a Georgian new town, great history/ cultural centre and old university town. Indoor and outdoor climbing, dry slope skiing, swimming, ice skating. Also great access to the coast for local harbours/ beaches/ Historic Fourth rail Bridge, Fife and the train and bus stations that will take you easily to other Scottish towns like Glasgow, Dundee, Aberdeen, etc.

Scottish Borders: lots of old market towns with great historical heritage (Kelso, Galashiels, Hawick, Selkirk, etc.), history/ country estates to access, (Floors Castle, Bowhill House – Duke of Buccleuch estates, Abbotsford House – Sir Walter Scott, Thirlestane Castle, Jedburgh/ Melrose/ Dryburgh Abbey’s, etc.). Lots of horse riding and all the Border towns each have historical Border Common Ridings festivals regaling the Border Reivers which involve local people riding at high speed through the town centres/ moors and celebrating afterwards. Also a short drive to the coast for lovely fishing villages and Northumberland for Bamburgh Castle and the holy island of Lindisfarne.
