Notre maison

My home is a deceptively spacious, well appointed terraced house. The house is really warm and cosy with double glazing and central heating. The lounge has two large comfortable sofas which create a lovely social area while the kitchen is the hub of the home with a sunny southerly aspect with patio doors to the very private terrace with steps leading down through the garden to the car parking space. Upstairs are two large bedrooms and a smaller bedroom used as a study. There is also a small family bathroom with shower over the bath and a downstairs cloakroom and small garden room.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. I am a retired teacher with three sons and four grandchildren. My youngest son emigrated to Australia in December 2010 with his Australian girl friend who is a Doctor in Melbourne Hospital. They live in Port Melbourne and will be marrying in December 2012. I visited them last year and loved the Australian way of life and would welcome the opportunity to return more independently by using the home exchange site.

Localisation

Quartier

Thorpe Thewles is a very quiet peaceful village with lots of community activities, including Friday coffee mornings, a village choir and an active local history group. It has two excellent village pubs which serve food, and a thriving church community based on our grade 2 listed nineteenth century church. The village has a fascinating history and more can be discovered about it on the Thorpe Thewles History Group website. The village is conveniently situated for access to the main road network - the Lake District can be reached in two hours, while it only takes an hour to reach the North York Moors and the Yorkshire Dales. The stunning Northumberland coast takes a little longer - but York and Newcastle can be accessed in an hour and Durham and Darlington for trains to London and Edinburgh are closer still. It is ten miles to Captain Cook's birthplace and heritage trail. There are museums, art galleries, theatres and the Sage concert hall on Tyneside to meet every taste.
