Notre maison

A Truly lovely character cottage dating from the 16th century and situated in the heart of Saunton within a short distance of the beach. This Grade II listed property, built in 1642, is a conversion of what was originally the old shippen barn to the main farmhouse and linked cottages, one of which is mentioned in the DOMESDAY BOOK. The cottage is full of charm with exposed beamed ceilings, wooden floors, thick wooden latch doors and white washed walls, yet offers all modern conveniences. Located in one of North Devon's most popular areas, the stunning sandy beaches of Saunton, Woolacombe and Croyde are just a few minutes away, known worldwide on the surfing scene.

The accommodation comprises large entrance porch leading into a spacious lounge/dining room (lounge pictured) with really gorgeous gas-fired woodburner stove, comfortable double sofa bed, TV, DVD, video and Sky Free SAT. Wooden breakfast bar to fitted kitchen with quarry-tiled floor, over-head spot lighting, cooker, w/dryer, microwave, dishwasher, fridge and freezer. Feature staircase to TWO bedrooms with exposed beams and sloping ceilings: 1 double and 1 twin bedroom both with TV. Generous bathroom with overhead spot-lighting and wooden floors. Beautiful gas-fired woodburner stove for cosy out of season getaways. Small private garden and patio with bistro set for morning tea/coffee. Huge open-plan lawned garden with wooden picnic tables and outlook to the sand dunes shared by the single barn cottages.

Saunton itself is fast becoming one of the most beautiful beaches in this area with its new overhead restaurant complex (open 11 months of the year) which provides alfresco eating while observing the stunning beach and surf. Walkers will be in their element with Braunton Burrows being virtually right on their doorstep along with SAUNTON'S 18 HOLE CHAMPIONSHIP GOLF COURSE.

The next village of Croyde offers local 16th Century pubs (in paricular, The Thatched Barn famous in the area for its charm, food and friendly atmosphere), small traditional devon shops and stunning beach and views.

Also the City of Bath, often regarded as the loveliest Roman City in the world, is accessible for day trips.

All of these areas are extremely safe.
