Notre maison

Our home is a bright and spacious apartment in a lovely Victorian building which dates back to 1850. It still has many of the original period features although the decor is fairly contemporary. The apartment has a large formal sitting room with original marble fireplace and window seat as well as a lovely, sunny lounge which faces onto the rear garden. There are two double bedrooms with plenty of storage space. The master bedroom has an en suite shower room and there is a separate bathroom. We have high speed broadband internet access, cable TV via Sky in HD and a bluray player. There is a pleasant enclosed garden to the rear of the property where you can relax and enjoy a cool drink on those hot summer days.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. Sue and I are keen travellers who try to get away as often as we can. We are in our late forties/early fifties. Sue is a teacher (so she gets lots of time off) and I work on the FastCat service which carries passengers between Ryde and Portsmouth. When we travel we like to get a real feel for the area where we stay and detest those big anonymous hotels where you could be absolutely anywhere. That's why we thought home exchange would suit us perfectly. We also love the place where we live and would very much like to share all that it has to offer with other like minded people. Our first experience of home swapping last summer really whetted our appetite and we are now well and truly hooked. We really can't imagine a better way to holiday!

Our home is located on a very quiet street opposite a Benedictine abbey but is just a short stroll from shops, restaurants, an ice rink, bowling alley, tennis courts and cinema. Our convenient location also offers excellent transport links to other coastal towns on the island and also to the mainland city of Portsmouth. It's an ideal spot for young families as there are endless activities available - both indoor and outdoor. Much of the island has been designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is a wonderful place for walkers and cyclists alike. Cowes is a mecca for yachting enthusiasts and hosts a high profile regatta every summer. For those with an interest in history, Osborne House, the holiday residence of Queen Victoria, is a 'must see' as is Carisbrooke Castle, where King Charles I was imprisoned. There are some superb restaurants on the island and great local produce can be found in the weekly farmers markets in both Ryde and Newport. There are two golf courses on the outskirts of Ryde and horse riding a short distance away.
