Notre maison

A comfortable and spacious middle terrace cottage, situated at the heart of the moorland village of Rosedale Abbey. Rosedale is an area of spectacular beauty, a perfect centre for touring and a walker's paradise.

The cosy sitting room has a solid fuel stove and the kitchen has a pine dining table and chairs, cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer and washing machine. There is a downstairs lavatory and a small conservatory overlooking the enclosed garden. This faces south west and is ideal for a sundowner.

Upstairs there is a twin bedded room and a double bedded room plus bathroom with separate walk in shower. There is a selection of books and games on the bookshelves.

The cottage has electric central heating and is suitable for children over 7.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. I live (and sometimes work!) in Harrogate, 50 miles away from the cottage, which I've owned for over 12 years. It is the most peaceful bolthole you could wish for and even when I'm there working, I feel as I'm on holiday.

Rosedale Abbey is at the heart of the North York Moors National Park and Dale Cottage is at the heart of the village with a view across the village green. The surrounding landscape of the moors and secluded dales offers some of the most spectacular countryside to be found anywhere.

The village has a general store, 2 tea rooms, 2 pubs, a glass design and manufacturing studio and a 9 hole golf course, all within walking distance of Dale Cottage.

Rosedale Abbey is a picturesque village 10 miles from Pickering and 17 miles from Whitby on the coast. It never had an abbey but the remains of the Priory, which was occupied by the Cistercians for 400 years from the mid 12th century, can be seen in the turret field next to the church. The walks all round the village, up on the disused railway line and on the Moors offer fabulous views of this particularly lovely area.

Nearby are the iron ore mines, closed since the 1920s, but which, for 60 years employed thousands of people. Remains of the workings can still be seen and there is a reconstruction of Rosedale’s drift mine in the Ryedale Folk Museum at Hutton-Le-Hole.

Further afield, the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, as seen transporting Harry Potter to Hogworts School, runs along the valley from Grosmont on the Moors to the market town of Pickering. In spring the famous daffodils carpet the floor in the adjacent dale of Farndale and in less than an hour you can cross the moors to the village of Sandsend, Dracula’s town of Whitby and miles and miles of splendid Heritage Coastline.
