Notre maison

We would love to welcome you to our home in beautiful Penarth, regularly voted the best place to live in Wales.

Our home is a comfortable and airy end of terrace property with a good-sized garden. It was build around 1900, but has all of the comforts of a modern house. It has three bedrooms (one of which is a recent loft conversion), one large bathroom, a modern kitchen and spacious living/dining area. The living/dining room and main bedroom have wooden floors, while the rest of the house (hallways and other bedrooms) have recently been recarpeted.

Our local street is clean and friendly. The neighbours are young families and older, retired couples. Windsor road, the local shopping street, is a two minute walk away, with a range of modern and traditional shops, cafes and restaurants. The local train station, Dingle Road, is a one minute walk away, which makes travelling outside of Penarth very convenient.

We are happy to offer the use of two cars (both Ford Fiestas).

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. Our names are Brian and Olivia. We are a couple, both in our late twenties and work in the Welsh National Health Service. We are very active and enjoy the outdoor lifestyle that Wales offers us. We also like going to see live music, socialising and exploring new places.

Penarth is Victorian village located 5 miles outside of Cardiff city (12 mins on the local train). It boasts artisan restaurants, fashionable bars and cafes, cozy pubs and stunning views across the Bristol channel from Penarth Pier. It also contains a number of local parks in which we regularly take relaxing, weekend strolls. A short drive or medium length walk will lead you to Cardiff Bay, a recently redeveloped dockland area. This is home to a huge array of international restaurants, the Glee Comedy Club, the Millenium Centre (where you can see drama, comedy and music) and the Welsh Assembly Government's striking buildings.

Penarth is an ideal location to explore Wales and the rest of the United Kingdom. Cardiff, the historic Welsh capital, is a short train journey away. Cardiff regularly hosts national and international rugby matches in the Millenium Stadium, so it is the perfect destination for rugby fans! It is also a bustling capital city, which offers modern shoping, exciting nightlife and historical attractions (Cardiff Castle, Cardiff University and a range of museums).

Within Wales, one can enjoy mountain walks in Pen-Y-Fan and Snowdonia (one hour and three hour drives respectively). Snowdonia National Park in particular is well worth a visit. It is a designated 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty' and is a must-see in this part of the world. To the West, you can enjoy surfing in Porthcawl (30-40 mins by car). Further afield, rural West Wales is a two to three hour drive away. We particulary recommend exploring Tenby, a beautiful medieval town with stunning beaches.

To the East, London is a three hour drive or two and half hour train journey away (155 miles). Closer to home, Bristol is an hours drive or 50 mins on the train (40 miles). Home to the artist Banksy, Bristol is a trendy, urban centre renowned for its beautiful buildings, fine dining and buzzing music scene, with everything from outdoor summer festivals (such as Love Saves the Day) to classical music in Victoria Rooms. We also recommend a trip to the ancient city of Bath, a UNESCO world heritage site. This breath-taking Roman city is a must-see, with outstanding architecture, world-class cuisine and access to traditional Roman baths.

Penarth is also a great base to take a trip to the UK's neighbour, Ireland. Cardiff airport (20 minutes by taxi or bus) has regular, low cost flights to Dublin, which take less than an hour. Alternatively, you can get the ferry to Dublin from Pembroke Dock, which is about a two hour drive. We would highly recommend a trip here if you have never been. Ireland is home to traditional music, beautiful scenery and the best pub culture to be found anywhere in the world.
