Notre maison

Set in a lovely garden on the banks of a small salmon river, the house has pine floors throughout, with a scattering of oriental rugs.
The large kitchen looks out onto the river. This is where we eat and spend much of our time, as it leads to the conservatory.
There is a small double bedroom downstairs with attached, en-suite shower room, whilst upstairs there is a further double en-suite and two other sizeable bedrooms that share a full bathroom.
The sitting room has an open, log-burning fire and outside there is a conventional charcoal barbecue, though a gas powered one is also available.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. We are Terri and Stuart and took early retirement in 2005 from careers in librarianship and environmental protection. Our two children have now left home, freeing us to travel extensively in the past 10 years.
So far we have enjoyed home exchanges to San Diego, Corsica, Hawaii, France(x3), Canada, Australia and Spain. We would like to try more.

The house sits on the outskirts of a market town, some 80 miles south of Glasgow and 125 miles from Edinburgh. Ireland is a little over 2 hours away by ferry and it takes a similar time to drive down to the English Lake District. Newton Stewart is a small town ( 4000 pop.) on the banks of the River Cree. The whole area is known as Galloway and is blessed with an interesting coastline and a mountainous hinterland. If you like the bright lights, this is not the place for you. On the other hand, if you want to relax and enjoy the countryside and wildlife in peaceful surroundings, it is well worth a visit.
