Notre maison

My home is built on a steep hill with good views of the hills around. It has a large conservatory which opens onto the garden at the rear. The lounge and dining room are open-plan with very large windows to maximise the views and let in lots of light. There are 2 double bedrooms and a study with a single chair/bed. A dry stone wall borders the path that crosses the front of the house and also borders a paddock containing 2 geese and occasionally horses from the local farm. The garage is situated a minute away along the path.

  1. I'm now retired and would love the chance to re-visit New Zealand. I've made 5 trips there and each time brought a bit of it back with me and found it difficult to settle back in the UK.I did my first house exchange in December, January and February 07/08 and it worked out perfectly and now I'm ready for a second go! I love the country, the lifestyle, the people and the rugby! My last 3 jobs have been working with local charities - as director of 2 of them and now I'm ready for a rest and a chance to spend some time in my country of choice. I have 2 sons, 3 grandchildren and a divorced husband who's remained a good friend. Apart from sport, I like music, travelling, books and being out of doors.
In 2010 I spent an idyllic stay of 9 weeks based in Devonport - a perfect place for a balance of quiet, sea, islands and the city.
I'm hoping to arrange a visit in January/February 2013. Somewhere in, or close, to Auckland would be ideal but I'd consider any part of New Zealand. I can put you in touch with the Kiwi couple I did my first exchange with for a reference if required.

New Mills is a small Derbyshire town in the High Peak.It has 2 railway stations with good links to north west cities. It has an active community life and is known for its famous "park under the town" - you probably need to see this via a website as it's difficult to explain. It is part of the Peak District - a large and beautiful area with good walks (or tramps if you're a Kiwi), large country houses and estates, caves and pot holes for the adventurous. The cities of Manchester and Sheffield are about 40 minutes away by train and from the nearest large town Stockport (30 minutes drive away)you can get regular trains to London taking about 2.5 hours to travel. Manchester is great for clubs, music, theatres and museums and has a couple of pretty good football teams! Manchester airport is an hour away by car and has frequent flights to other English cities, Ireland, Scotland, Europe and beyond.
