En savoir plus sur nous

  1. We are Anna & David. David is a retired managing director of a printing company, & Anna is a semi-retired teacher, also involved as a voluntary member of the R.S.P.C.A. We have spent the past few years renovating a traditional cottage & outbuildings in the west of Ireland. We are now looking forward to a bit more leisure time. We have 2 grown-up children, Both of whom have flown the nest. We usually travel alone, but occasionally our daughter & 17 year old grandson who live nearby may join us.

We also have a son, daughter-in-law and family living in Adelaide, and so we are always interested in an exchange of 4-5 weeks to Adelaide, as we do like to have an independent base when visiting the family. This would usually be around Dec/Jan.

We are experienced hosts and exchangers, and all our exchanges have been very enjoyable with good communications with our fellow exchangers, to make sure they have the most enjoyable time possible, and to make the most of all the area has to offer.

We take a pride in our home, so therefore we would look after another persons in exactly the same way.

Our home is within walking distance of a country park & the River Solent, along which the cruise liners approach the Port of Southampton. Nearby is the village of Hamble with its yacht marinas & a variety of old English pubs & restaurants. The city of Southampton has many historic features, including parts of the original medieval city walls. There is also a newly opened 'Titanic' museum. There is a bus service to the city just a few yards from our home.

Also, Southampton is on a main rail link to London, which takes just over an hour.
The city of Portsmouth is a short distance away, with the naval history museum, housing King Henry V111's Tudor warship 'The Mary Rose'. Also, Admiral Lord Nelson's flagship 'Victory'.

Towards the west of the city of Southampton is the New Forest with its famous New Forest ponies, & lovely old thatched cottages & cosy pubs.

The picturesque Isle of Wight is just a short ferry ride away. There are plenty of cycle tracks, and numerous attractions. Including Queen Victoria's summer residence 'Osbourne House', of which Queen Victoria was quoted as saying, "It is impossible to imagine a prettier spot".
