Notre maison

It is a modern detached house in a quiet cul-de-sac with very friendly neighbours. It has two gardens, both of which are sunny. It is a light airy house with a conservatory facing onto the west garden. Both gardens are very private and each has a garden table which seats at least 6 people. On the ground floor there are 2 living rooms, one large and one small, each with a TV. There is a combined kitchen dining room in which 8 people can easily eat. There is a separate utility room and a downstairs toilet. On the first floor are 4 bedrooms, 2 double and 2 single. We use one of the single bedrooms a a computer room but the single bed can still fit into it. The master bedroom has an ensuite shower room. The downstairs small living room (family room) has a sofa which opens out to make a double bed. The house is warm and cosy in the winter and sunny and open in the summer.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. We are Sarah and Tony, a retired couple. We were both professionals in our working lives - Sarah was a French teacher and Tony was an electronics engineer. We have done 3 home exchanges before to various parts of the world and found all of them very successful. We have a daughter and a son and one granddaughter. Our children both live in Leeds, in the north of England. We also have a house in Montpellier in the south of France where we tend to spend most of the summer. We have stipulated our dates for coming to New Zealand (10 December 2011 - 15 January 2012)but we are easy about doing a non-simultaneous exchange. So if you wish to come to England in July/August 2012 instead of Dec/Jan that would be fine. You could even use the French house in the winter time if you wished. We like travelling and exploring and would be keen to swap a car as well as the house. We enjoy good food and like to go to London to see exhibitions or go to the theatre. We are also fond of walking and cycling and socialising with family and friends.

The house is a 10 minute walk from Maidenhead town centre and the train station which takes you directly into London (30 mins away). There are numerous restaurants in town and typically English pubs in the surrounding villages. There are walks by the side of the Thames which runs on the edge of the town. It has all the shopping facilities needed, a sports centre with a large pool and gym. It has a golf course 5 mins away. Maidenhead is situated near lots of interesting places. By car London is 40 mins away, Windsor 10 mins, Oxford 20 mins, Stonehenge 20 mins, Stratford on Avon (Shakespeare country) 60 mins. There are many interesting walks in the nearby Chiltern Hills and it is not far from the beautiful Cotswold villages. It has many interesting stately homes also in the area. Heathrow airport is only 20 mins away.
