Notre maison

Our house is an Edwardian period home in a tree-lined, quiet and friendly area of north London. The house is sunny and spacious, and remarkably quiet for London. Downstairs we have a large through-room with sofa, television, piano, and a large kitchen-dining room that has French doors into the garden. There are three good sized bedrooms, all with very comfortable mattresses, two bathrooms and a large light and airy loftroom with skylights, large desk and double sofabed. My partner is a musician and I'm an academic so the house is full of music - with a piano, guitars (that can be put away if you wish), cellos and CDs - and many interesting books! Our children are 18 and 13, a boy and a girl. The garden is small but well loved, and we have a few bikes you may borrow.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. We are a couple with two children aged 13 and 18. I'm an academic (sociologist) and my partner is a musician (guitarist). We have rented our home before when I have had sabbaticals, and we've been traveling to the US (San Francisco) for several years, while exploring Europe at other times. We have exchanged with families (in San Francisco, Vancouver, Austria and France) several times over last nine years.

We love our neighbourhood. It is a very friendly area, with lots of local parks, including Alexandra Palace Park with its ice-skating rink, boating lake and views over London. There are tennis courts very close in Durnsford Park, swimming pools and good walking or cycling routes. Muswell Hill is known as having as close to a village-atmosphere as you'll find in London, with nice shops for buying food - fantastic fish shop, organic food, bookshops, music shop - and many cafes. The trip into central London is fast (15minutes to Kings Cross) and easy on overland (from Alexandra Palace, our usual route) or underground (from Bounds Green).
