Notre maison

Our home is a 1929, 3 storey semi detached in a quiet cul de sac. It is on a private estate which originally was the garden of a large house at the top of the hill. The road has trees and grass verges that are mown once a week. It is a very quiet and pretty estate, with a lot of bird song. Our neighbours are all lovely, families as well as retired people and the elderly. Children play out in the street after school and at weekends. We have a street party biannually.

From our bedroom window we have a view over London as we are one road up from the bottom of the hill. It is particularly spectacular at night time. The house is south facing and light.
We have a through kitchen, dining room, sitting room, with the dining room opening onto the garden. We recently updated the kitchen, which is light and airy.
We have antique furniture and plenty of art on the walls, so it feels smart but welcoming.(I studied History of Art)
There is a bathroom with bath and shower on each floor and the rooms are comfortable. It is a family home but our children are now in their 20s and 30s.
I am a keen gardener so the garden is pretty with shrubs, flowers and a lawn, with two garden tables and chairs. One is straight outside the back door, the other is at the top of the garden.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. We are Rosie and Massoud, a married couple with three grown up children. We met while both studying at university in Sussex.
We are professionals (Special Needs teacher/manager and economist/IT/engineer) and have recently retired or you might say: we are between jobs?
We enjoy travelling and do a quite a lot, including walking, cycling and sailing, as well as city breaks. We haven't done a home exchange before but a friend has just come back from a stay in San Fransico and really enjoyed it. We do however rent houses and villas in England and abroad. We would hope to get to know our fellow exchangers via email first to see how best we can facilitate their stay in the UK.

The house is 5 mins walk from a very large park called Hampstead Heath, where you can jog, walk, swim in the ponds or play tennis. It contains Kenwood house, a C17th stately home, which contains Rembrandts and other masters as well as a garden cafe. A regular spot for breakfast.
Shops are 5 mins away from the house, with a Tesco on the corner and 5 restaurants to choose from. Breakfast in the sunshine in Kalendar is a favourite.
We are in Highgate, which has an old village and interesting shops, pubs and restaurants.
Travel to town is easy by either the C2 bus straight to Oxford Street for shopping or Piccadilly for the Royal Academy picture gallery. Alternatively take the 214. Both buses go to Kentish Town tube in 10mins from where you can access anywhere. A short walk over the Heath and there is an overground train which will take you in 30mins to Richmond on the River Thames or Kew Botanical Gardens.
