Notre maison

We live in south east London on a quiet residential street. Our house was built in 1904 and is typical of much of the Victorian period properties which are sought after in London. Downstairs, once inside the front door, we have a living room/tv room on your left. This room has much of the original Victorian features – decorative leaded glass windows, ceiling ornamentation as well as a working fireplace, TV, DVD and Stereo. It is a lovely room to relax in. This room also has a very comfortable pull-out sofa bed for extra guests.

Adjacent to that is our children’s living room – full of toys and activities suitable for kids age 3 - 10 approximately. It also has an internet enabled TV, a piano and a sofa.

Beyond that is our kitchen/dining room which has French doors leading out to our garden. The kitchen has all the necessary appliances. The oven is electric with a gas ring hob on the top. This kitchen has a large eat-in section with dining table and chairs and a sofa. From here the garden is immediately outside. This has large trampoline as well as a Weber barbeque and a deck area with patio table and chairs.

Upstairs there are four double bedrooms: the large 1st floor master bedroom overlooks the front of the house. This room has bunk beds as well as an extra trundle bed which can be pulled out for a third child. The smaller middle bedroom has a single bed which can be adjusted to become either two single beds side by side or a double. The third bedroom on this floor is a large double bedroom overlooking the garden.

This floor has a comfortable bathroom with shower/ bath and WC.

On the next floor is the loft master bedroom and a second bathroom with a rain shower. This is a tranquil and quiet part of the house.

There is a WIFI internet connection available throughout the house.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. We are a family of five – Jonny is a professional musician and works at Westminster Abbey. (He can arrange a personal tour of this historical building for visitors who would like it) Sinead is an accountant. Our children are Niamh who is 10, Sebastian, 7 and Clara who is nearly 4 years old.

We live in an area of London which is home to lots of artists, actors, musicians etc. and as such, it has quite a friendly community feel to it. We are extremely well connected for public transport to central London or to the Kent/Sussex countryside and coast.

We are located between four main transport routes – the underground (“tube”) is a 15 minute walk away at Brockley station. From there you can travel into Westminster/Oxford Street etc. in about 20 minutes. Trains to London Bridge take 15 minutes and depart from Ladywell station which is a 10 minute walk away. Our nearest station, Crofton Park, is a 3 minute walk away and has a 17 minute connection into Victoria or Blackfriars station. This is in addition to multiple bus routes.

There are also many cycle routes which can take you to almost any corner of London but they are not for the faint hearted.

More locally we are in a triangle between three local parks, each with playgrounds, tennis courts, and pleasant walking. Hilly fields has particularly lovely views over south east London and the Docklands. http://www.hilly.org.uk/images/

There are numerous cafes and restaurants within walking distance – we happy to recommend our favourite Indian and Italian in particular. A bit further afield is Lordship Lane with lots of lovely boutiques, deli’s and even more restaurants. From there it is a short walk to Dulwich Park and Village – home to the Dulwich Picture Gallery. http://www.dulwichpicturegallery.org.uk/
There is also an excellent golf course Dulwich and Sydenham Golf Club in this neighbourhood

We are also very accessible to Greenwich which has the maritime museum and the wonderful Greenwich park. From Greenwich you can also take the frequent river boat service up the river Thames into central London This is a great way to see the river as it takes you past the Tower of London, the houses of Parliament and on to Westminster pier. Greenwich Picture House is a great cinema. http://www.visitgreenwich.org.uk/

Lastly, we are about a 60 minute car journey from the Channel Tunnel port with frequent train+car services to France. You can easily take a day trip to Calais and the north of France and be back home by the evening.

We are about the same distance away from the beaches and coastal walks of Brighton and Eastbourne in East Sussex or Whitstable and Margate in Kent.

We have lovely neighbours on either side who would be happy to help you out with any queries. We have two adult bikes, one with a toddler seat and two children’s bikes. It is difficult to arrange a swap using our car because of insurance restrictions in the UK but we are confident that public transport will take you anywhere you wish to go!
