Notre maison

Set at the foot of the Epynt Mountains, a few minutes walk from the village of Llangammarch Wells, our comfortable 200 year old cottage puts you at the heart of nature - you can enjoy walking, mountain biking, riding and a host of outdoor activities from the front door.

Refurbished in 2011, the cottage has been tastefully decorated and is well equipped.

Heating and hot water are provided by solar panels, a woodburner and oil fired central heating.

On the ground floor is the living room with welsh oak floorboards, a comfortable sofa and armchair and a woodburner in the inglenook fireplace for cosy evenings in. There is also a TV with DVD player and radio/cd player. The kitchen has an electric cooker with fan oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge with freezer compartment and washing machine. The bathroom has a bath, separate shower cubicle, basin and loo.

Upstairs are two bedrooms - a double room with a view of the Epynt Mountain, and a twin room with a double aspect, looking towards the Epynt on one side, and the Cambrian Hills on the other.

There is ample parking space for two cars next to the cottage.

The cottage is adjacent to our main home.

Ceirios Cottage is just five minutes walk from the village of Llangammarch Wells which has a small post office/shop, a pub - the Aberceiros Inn, which offers bar meals - and a railway station. The picturesque village is situated where the Irfon and Cammerch rivers converge, and there are many beautiful walks in the vicinity.

Our nearest town, about 4 miles away, is Llanwrtyd Wells, a vibrant centre for activities, perhaps best known for its annual Man v Horse competition and Bog Snorkelling Championship. Here you'll find several pubs, cafés, restaurants and shops.

Builth Wells, home to the Royal Welsh showground, is about 9 miles away, or a 10 to 15 minute drive. Here you'll find banks, a supermarket, pubs, cafés and many other shops.

Hay-on-Wye is about 40 minutes away and is noted for its literary festival, also for the vast number of book shops that are there. The town is definitely worth a visit.

Elan Valley – about 30 minutes drive away, and offers spectacular views. Has visitor centre with café. You’ll also see the impressive dams and reservoirs that were built in Victorian times to provide Birmingham with water.

I am a project officer in a renewable energy agency, and my husband is an tree consultant. We love the outdoors, and feel very lucky to live in Mid Wales - it's a very beautiful place. We enjoy walking, running, and mountain biking, all of which are easily accessed where we live. This is our first time doing an exchange, and think it's a very good way to see other places. We are looking for a house somewhere near a beach with good surfing........our son loves to surfs, and we are all keen to learn, so this is a priority.

This is a second home so our swop does not have to be similataneous.
