Notre maison

Our house is a lovingly constructed new self-build, completed in 2013. It is very comfortable and is in a peaceful setting just 5 miles from the centre of Cambridge in the desirable village of Little Shelford. Two miles away you can access fast and frequent bus services into Cambridge or a train services into London. London is less than 60 minutes by train. Cambridge is an excellent city for cycling. We have 5 bicycles that can be used and there are safe cycle paths from Little Shelford into Cambridge.

Ours is a modern, spacious home with large windows. It is bright and airy. It is warm in winter and has underfloor heating downstairs, as well as a newly installed wood burner. Wood is available to use. There is also a piano in the living room. It has four bedrooms, including two double bedrooms each with en-suite toilet and showering facilities. There are two other single bedrooms, one with a bunk bed and a third mattress that can be used on the floor. It can, therefore, currently sleep 8. There is also a spacious family bathroom upstairs and a toilet downstairs.

Our open-plan kitchen/dining and living room, overlooks a large 50sq.m deck, a long garden and fields/woodland. There is a 5m high tree house in a large tree at the end of the garden! There is another smaller family room at the front of the ground floor. We do not have a TV, although you can access BBC programmes via iPlayer. A utility room has a clothes washing and drying facilities.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. We are a family of four. We are Jason, Fiona, Maisie (16) and Seth (13). Jason is an American and Fiona is British. Fiona and Jason run a school in Cambridge. We regularly attend the local Anglican church in Little Shelford.

We are extremely careful and neat people who treat our home (which we have built) with the utmost care. We always leave holiday homes we visit very clean and tidy, often cleaner than when we came! We would welcome people to our home who have similar values.

Cambridge is a beautiful, world-class university city with outstanding attractions for the whole family, including museums and the university colleges such as King's College, with its remarkable chapel. In less than 60 minutes you can travel to London, making it possible to enjoy days out there as well.

Little Shelford is a highly desirable village 5 miles to the south west of Cambridge. There are two restaurants plus a pub/restaurant in the village and a public park. In Great Shelford (a 5 minute cycle ride away) there are many shops, including two small food shops, a bakery, a delicatessen, a pharmacy/chemist, two banks, another public park, and more.

Further afield, you may enjoy visiting picturesque towns like Saffron Walden, only 20 minutes to the south, or Ely to the north of Cambridge where you see the cathedral and Oliver Cromwell's House, for example. There are two National Trust properties in around Cambridge: Wimpole Hall and Anglesey Abbey, both worth a visit. The Imperial War Museum, Duxford, is only 10 minutes away. You can also enjoy days out into Suffolk to see medieval villages like Clare, Long Melford or Lavenham. Maps can be provided for countryside walks in this beautiful region.
