Notre maison

Our family home is situated at the end of a very child friendly cul-de-sac in a quiet Buckinghamshire village 45km from central London. The house is very comfortable for a family of four and 2 cats and 2 rabbits! Upstairs our bright hallway opens onto a master bedroom with Juliette balcony, en-suite with double sinks and large walk-in shower; guest double bedroom; girl's pink bedroom with enough space for an extra camp bed; boy's blue bedroom with an extra pull-out single bed; study with wireless internet and family bathroom with bath and overhead shower, drying cupboard and dryer.

Downstairs the entrance hall leads to a separate WC, plenty of understairs storage for coats & shoes; lovely bright open-plan kitchen diner with a 3 metre reclaimed oak table, folding doors to the garden/patiio and door leading to spacious utility room with well stocked kids' arts and crafts cupboard and a large round table for artwork. Leading off the kitchen is the family room with TV and DVD player, double sofa bed, games, toys and book cupboard, numerous kids' DVDs and rustic table for puzzles and board games. Adjoining the family room is our living room with a large corner sofa, open fireplace, TV and DVD player and doors opening out to the garden.

Outside we have a pleasant sunny garden with table and chairs for alfresco eating on the patio, hammock, chimenea and a football goal for the kids, with plenty of space for them to run around or put out the paddling pool when the sun shines!

Our neighborhood is very family friendly with a wooded Arboretum nearby and great village pub with a lovely beer garden, play area and good food, just 10 minutes walk or a short bicycle ride away.

Our nearest town is Great Missenden, home to the renowned children's author Roald Dahl (Fantastic Mr Fox, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) and museum; tennis courts, playground, boutique home and gift shops, traditional English pubs, a Tapas bar, Thai and Indian restaurant and, of course, a supermarket.

London Marylebone is 35 minutes by train from the station (3 km) and the historic University City of Oxford just 45km drive away, perfect for Sunday brunch and a tour of the University gardens. Windsor Castle, Eton and Legoland are all just half an hour drive.

The Chiltern Hills are designated an area of outstanding natural beauty with many lovely walks and cycle routes. Within easy reach are the historical riverside towns of Marlow and Henley-on-Thames (Regatta, Rowing Museum and Wind in The Willows museum). For lovers of culture and architecture try Waddesdon Manor-country home to the Rothschild family; Cliveden- country house hotel open to non-residents and famous for the Profumo Affair dramatized in the movie 'Scandal'; Blenheim Palace, with stunning grounds designed by Capability Brown and home to the young Winston Churchill and Jack Black in Gulliver's Travels!; Hughenden Manor, home to Disraeli (Queen Victoria's prime minister) and also the base of secret World War 2 operations, including the great Dambusters Raid; and the enchanting Bekonscot model village just 15 minutes away. For lovers of Shakespeare take a day trip to the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-Upon-Avon and visit Warwick Castle or perhaps visit the Roman baths in the beautiful city of Bath, all within a 2 hour drive.
If you'd like to sample a traditional English seaside resort, then take a trip to Brighton, approx 90 minutes drive away, with extensive pebble beaches, open air cafes and restaurants and fish and chips on the famous Pier!
Use of our car is optional with children's car seats, roof rack and top box available on request. We also have 2 kids' bikes, 2 adult bikes.
