En savoir plus sur nous

  1. We are Alison and Jim, a married couple in our mid Thirties. We are both professionals (Accountant and Speech and Language Therapist).

We have never done a house swap before but it sounds a great way of seeing another country. We love living in Linlithgow and hope that whomever we swap with will love staying here and seeing all central Scotland has to offer.

We plan to travel to Australia from December 2011 to February 2012 and want to visit Perth, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

The neighbourhood is quiet residential area, but is only ten minutes walk away from the centre of town. Linlithgow has many boutique shops, cafes and pubs to offer. For a special occasion the Michelin Star Champany Inn restaurant is located close by. There is the Palace, birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots and St Michaels Kirk with its controversial crown. Also (for all the Trekies out there) Montgomery Scott was born here in erm 2222!

The bustling seaside town of South Queensferry is located ten miles down the road. You will be able to relax at one of its many bars or restaurants while admiring the engineering marvel that is the Forth Rail Bridge. For the foolhardy amongst you, you could take part in the ‘loony dook’ which takes place on New Year’s Day. What better way to start the New Year than to chuck yourself in the icy cold water of the forth.

Linlithgow is located on the main Glasgow (35 minutes) to Edinburgh (20 minutes) train line. Edinburgh has the Castle, Holyrood Palace, festival and city views from the top of Arthurs Seat. But please don’t forget Glasgow, with its Architecture, shopping and variety of free Museums. Visit the Willow Tea Room designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh, main representative of Art Nouveau in the UK.

Twenty miles away is Stirling gateway to the Trossachs. An hour down the road is the East Neuk of Fife. East Lothian with its seaside villages and ruined castles is also only an hour drive away.

Linlithgow is fifteen miles away from Edinburgh Airport.
