Notre maison

Our house was built in 1947 and is set in good sized secluded grounds with a lovely rear garden and terrace. It looks out over the beautiful Sussex Downs. We have vegetable beds, a greenhouse, and a large enclosure for our 3 hens. There are two double bedrooms (one with ensuite), a family bathroom, and one single that could accommodate another bed. There is fast wif, cable tv, logs fires in winter. The house is centrally heated and the kitchen has a gas-fired Aga (cooker) which in the winter is on 24/7. We are an easy 10 minute walk into town. You can walk out of the house and onto the South Downs Way (long distance footpath) in 5 minutes flat! You don't need a car, especially if you enjoy walking!

Quartier

Lewes is an ancient and largely unspoilt town set in the South Downs National Park. It has many second hand bookshops, antique markets, lots of coffee houses and places to eat. It has a new (2017) cinema, lots of parks and gardens, and the oldest (and coldest) open air swimming pool in England. The seaside city of Brighton is a 20 minute drive (frequent buses pass by the 9n the road at the bottom of our garden). You can get to central London said on frequent (2 an hour) trains that take 65 minutes. You can go to the theatre in the evening inLondon and be back before midnight. Glyndebourne Opera House is 15 minutes away and so too is Chareleston Farmhouse, home of many of the Bloomsbury group. Monk's House, the home of Virginia and Leonard Wolfe, is literally just up the road from us.
