Notre maison

Our house is a fully modernised former mill workers terraced cottage, built in 1891. It is located on a very nice, friendly, pedestrian only avenue. Our living room (with bay window overlooking the avenue) has a window seat and sofa, CD player, flat screen TV with DVD player and a tank of fish to enjoy. We also have lots of books and DVDs. Our kitchen and dining room have just been rennovated: new freestanding stove, dishwasher, large folding doors to courtyard etc. We also have a tiny office under the satirs with broadband access. On the second floor is our converted loft room. We have a small en-suite shower room with toilet off this bedroom. On the first floor we have two bedrooms and a family bathroom. Bedroom two is light and airy. It is our daughter's room and has a large day bed which can be used as a single or pulled out to create a comfortable queen sized bed. Bedroom three is our son's room. It is small but comfortable with a child-sized bed which can easily be made into an adult single. The family bathroom contains a large bath, over bath shower, sink, and toilet. As well as the small pebbled courtyard out front we have a private decked yard at the rear of the house. Both the living room and dining room sofas are double size sofa beds.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. We are a family of four. Chris is a project manager for Leicestershire Council and I (Mel) take care of our children, run a small retail business from home, and am completing my Masters in Psychology. Our daughter Tabitha is 4 and our son Leo is 2. Now our children are a little older we would love to travel with them. We share our lovely home with our fish, and 2 cats (all could be rehomed while we're away if necessary) meaning we'd be happy to look ater your pets on our holiday. In May 2010 we had a fabulous exchange to Niagara on the Lake in Ontario and would love to discover more of Canada and America for longer holidays during school holiday periods and destinations in the UK and Europe for shorter holidays.

Our avenue appears quiet and tucked away, yet it is only a 10-15 minute walk from the city centre. Our neighbours are warm and friendly and the area itself is very multicultural. We have numerous places to eat nearby and a museum and art gallery are only a short walk away. We are also just minutes from the large tree lined Victoria Park, a great place to take children, and the University of Leicester. Leicester itself is a fantastic city with many shopping, eating, and cultural opportunities, and some Roman history. It has 2 universities, a guildhall, museums, some lovely parks and canals. There are cinemas, theatres (including the new Curve "the most exciting British theatre to have opened in years"), restaurants, bars and lots of shopping opportunities. There is the National Space Centre and interesting historic buildings such as Abbey Pumping Station and Belgrave Hall. West of Leicester is a lovely country park and to the East is Rutland Water popular for watersports. Leicester has great public transport but there are many car hire firms if required. We are located just 5 minutes (on the way there downhill, 10 on the way back up the hill!) from Leicester's train station. A fast train to St Pancras International Station (in the heart of central London) takes only 1 hour and 9 minutes so is perfect for day trips. St Pancras is also on the Eurostar line making it easy and fairly quick to get to Paris, Lille and Bruges for example for a short trip.
