Notre maison

We have a lovely, spacious detached home with a lovely view of woodland that benefits from being south facing. It has four bedrooms (2 doubles and a single and currently the fourth bedroom is a snug). When you wake up you can sit on the terrace or balcony and listen to the birds singing (we have woodpeckers regularly in the garden). It is a peaceful home at the end of the quiet village of Kennington just four miles from the centre of Oxford. You can drive into the centre in 10 minutes, or get the bus (35) which goes every 20 minutes (every 30 minutes on a Sunday). Alternatively there is a picturesque cycle (or walk!) along the river. We even have a train station in the village of Radley, just one mile up the road which goes into Oxford, Reading or London. Our neighbours are largely retired folk and are very friendly and helpful. Kennington has its own village hall, pub and shops, and we have a couple of take aways directly around the corner from us too. A short walk away is the pretty lock at Sandford upon Thames and our favourite local pub, The Kings Arms, which is on the river.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. We are Jo and Robin and love travelling to new places. Jo (50) is a Recruitment and Admissions officer at a university college and Robin (57) is a Technical Sales Manager. Jo will be restricted to exchanges outside of the University term times so June, July and late August/September or Christmas/New Year are best times to exchange with us. We think we are very fortunate to live and work in such a great part of the country as Oxford offers us everything we enjoy. We love activity holidays but are equally happy lying by the beach and eating nice food. We also enjoy visiting cultural cities and Robin is always keen to find an empty church to sing in to his heart's delight. Both music lovers, Robin sings in a local amateur operatic society and Jo plays her flute in local amateur orchestras. Robin's also a keen skier and instructor, so exchanges involving snow would also be welcome. Before meeting Robin, Jo did around 10 exchanges (all but the last couple of recommendations on the site refer to her previous, smaller property in Cowley) and all have been very successful. We are careful people and would treat your property respectfully. We are very much open to any offers so please get in touch! Our last exchange to Finland was amazing so we'd like to see more of Scandinavia for instance.

Quartier

We've lived here since getting married and love the fact that although it is close to the centre of Oxford, you have the countryside right on your doorstep. You can walk to Radley College through the woods at the bottom of the garden or cycle up to Thrupp Lake and along the path to the pretty market town of Abingdon upon Thames. For those that enjoy the peace of the countryside as well as being close to the cultural city of Oxford, this house is perfectly situated. Oxford is a beautiful city full of culture and historic sights such as the Bodleian library, Sheldonian Theatre, and of course the University Colleges. There are many parks and meadows and the famous Christchurch Cathedral (where Harry Potter was filmed), and Magdalen College (part of the CS Lewis trail). Other local attractions include the Cotswolds, Blenheim Palace, Waterperry Gardens, Waddesdon Manor, The Oxfordshire Golf Club, Oxfordshire Way, Bicester Shopping Village and Swan Antiques Centre. There are some fantastic restaurants including the famous Le Manoir aux Quat' Saisons at Great Milton and Oxford is only 1 hour from Central London and Birmingham. Stratford (home of Shakespeare) - takes just over an hour if you drive the scenic route through Woodstock and the Cotswolds. The thatched cottages on route are beautiful.
