Notre maison

We fell in love with this house 4 years ago, and after spending some time renovating it made it into a cosy comfortable house that is still full of character and history. It is well set back from the road with a 45m long front garden and another large garden to the side of the house, both full of mature trees and shrubs and a productive vegetable garden which will provide "summer/autumn swappers" with fresh vegetables. Downstairs the living area is spacious, the kitchen leads into the dining room, there is also the hall and an office. The stairs take you onto a large landing from which lead 3 double bedrooms. The bathroom is very large and has an old cast iron claw foot bath and a modern shower. The hot water is heated by a solar system. The views from all the windows are beautiful: mature trees and palms and gardens. Autumn is favorite when many of the trees turn red and yellow.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. We are Inge and Ian, both fit retired people (Ian is a retired geologist and I am a retired mother of three) who lo e cycling, kayaking walking, and travelling. We are not completely new to home swaps, having organized a couple of them ourselves in the past. We love the idea of home swapping, but are also very aware that we will be staying in someones beloved home which we will look after and respect.

Hayle is a small town on St Ives Bay in Cornwall which is the south west tip of England. Many visitors come to Cornwall every year attracted by its beautiful beaches, coves and cliffs, fishing villages and mild climate which allows many Mediterranean and subtropical plants to thrive. There are a number of stunning gardens taking advantage of the climate. Surfers flock to nearby beaches famous for their waves. Para-gliding, windsurfing and sand yachting are all activities that have become popular. Walkers and bird watchers find plenty to explore and see. Our house is within a short walk of the Hayle estuary which is an important nature reserve for sea birds.
We are conveniently placed for most things: Banks, supermarkets, bakery, butcher, Italian restaurant and Fish & Chip shop, a small "shopping village" with interesting shops, bus stop and train station are just down the road a 3 minutes walk away. The area surrounding us is green, there is a mill pond opposite and many walks can be started from the house. From Hayle the beautiful sandy beach stretches for 3 miles along St.Ives Bay and is backed by dunes. It is a 5 minutes drive away or can be reached in 30 minutes by foot. Hayle is very central for exploring other areas of Cornwall. St Ives is a must, although it can get very busy, with its history as an artist colony, which still carries on today with many galleries displaying works by well known painters and potters. There are a large number of good restaurants and pubs in the area serving excellent food. In recent years famous British chefs have come to Cornwall and opened restaurants.
