Notre maison

Our lovely house was built in 1874. Once two farm workers cottages, it was converted into a house in 1970 and completely renovated in 2004. The views are across the fields as far as the eye can see and a wood behind. There are gardens, front and back; garden furniture and a BBQ. With a modern feel, but cottage charm, it is a lovely family home. The living area is comfortable. One of the two sofas converts into a double sofa bed. The sunny conservatory contains the dining table. The TV room has satellite. The kitchen is well equipped (we like to cook and entertain). The bathrooms are new and clean, with one bath and two showers. The master bedroom is light, with views over the fields. Our daughter's room has a single bed, with the same view and a TV with DVD player. The little boy has a room with a small child's bed. The fourth bedroom has a double bed and views over the woods and fields. London is easily accessible by road or rail. It is 1 hour by train to London from Ipswich. Our nearest airports are London Stansted, London City or Norwich, and we are also close to the sea port of Harwich

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. We are a family of four. My name is Clare, I am 44 and a Finance Director for a software company. My husband, Brent (a youthful 51) used to run a university library, but now stays at home and looks after our 5 year old son, Thomas and 17 year old daughter, Alice. Brent & I go dancing and I like to drag the family out on walks, which normally end up in a pub! The local food is quite wonderful! The game, in season is abundant and the local seafood can be magnificent. Orford oysters are world famous. The village farm shop is a good place to find un-pasturised local milk, local smoked prawns, some very interesting sausages (pork and apricot, or pigeon sausages anyone?) Despite being rural, it's not too remote for teenagers; there is ten-pin bowling, cinemas, clubs, swimming pools and 'laser quest' near by, all which our daughter uses. There are also theme parks, a zoo, safari and a children's farm nearby:)

Lovely house, just outside a small village. Peaceful, yet there is a pub nearby where you can meet people and sample the local brews! We are less than 2 miles from the old market town of Woodbridge, which is on the river and very pretty. Boutique shops; historical buildings (Tudor & Georgian); some wonderful restaurants; museums of local interest, including a working tide mill, and only 3 miles from Sutton Hoo, whose treasure can be seen in the British Museum. A couple of miles from the coast and close to the rivers Orwell and Deben; offers opportunities for sailing; walks along the heritage coastline; and swimming in the sea and rivers. The area has few hills and so cycling is also very popular. Ipswich, the capital town of Suffolk, is 20 minutes away. It has a recently redeveloped harbour, major shopping, museums, historic buildings, lively restaurants and nightclubs. Suffolk is Constable county. You can visit the sites of his famous paintings at Flatford. There are an abundance of old churches and stately homes nearby, as well as two castles and numerous lovely coastal towns to visit; including Aldebrough with it's classical music festival. The beautiful university town of Cambridge is only 1 hour away.
