Notre maison

Super convenient contemporary penthouse in the west end of the city, south facing, wonderful light and space with gorgeous views. The sun pours in all day. Spacious sitting room with views to the park opposite and the river Clyde. You can make out the red funnels of the Waverley paddle steamer from the comfort of your sofa . There is a small balcony which is great for watching the world go by -and I keep my herb garden there. Large well equipped dining kitchen: - double oven / gas hob, dishwasher etc and the oak table can seat ten. Look across the rooftops of the red sandstone tenements of Hyndland or the hills . There are 2 double bedrooms [master ensuite ] . The bathroom has a bath and a shower attachment. The floors are maple or tiled [ not keen on fitted carpets!] and the furniture an eclectic mix of antique and contemporary. Artwork on the walls is subject to change as I'm an artist!

There is a lift and also a large residents terrace- in summer my garden table and BBQ are there to use . On-street parking is easy and I have a space in the underground garage. If required, I can arrange for a couple of bikes.
Blow up bed/s to accommodate another two travellers are available .

  1. i had a lucky escape from the legal profession. It was always bit of a mystery how i found myself there-and stayed so long- but there you go. Anyway the exit plan worked and I' m very happy to say I graduated recently from art school. I lived in Edinburgh for a bit which was wonderful. Now I am back in Glasgow again I want to establish myself.

I love travelling for the inspiration it gives me and prefer cities or places where there is lots to do or things of interest. I'd prefer not be dependent on a car.

Quartier

the west end of the city is home to the gothic splendour of the university of Glasgow, the Hunterian gallery and museum there, the famous Kelvingrove art gallery and museum and Zaha Hadid's new Riverside Museum with the Tall Ship. There are boho boutiques and cafes in Byres Road, Hyndland Road and Broomhill Cross. The predominant architectural feature is the red sandstone tenement.
my apartment is almost equidistant between Hyndland rail station and Partick interchange. The interchange is a short downhill walk and from there you have the option of bus, tube ,train, taxi or hiring a bike into the city. Personally , I prefer the train: they run every 5 minutes during the day and the journey itself takes about ten. It's also cheapest at £1.90 for an off peak return. At Partick, you can board a train which goes directly to Edinburgh.

Glasgow is a very good base for touring and you can easily get out of the city from here to the coast or the countryside. By car, it's less than 5 minutes to the Clyde tunnel [ to go south of the river] or the Expressway for M8/9 motorway connections or the Kingston Bridge. Glasgow airport is about 15 minutes from the flat.

For the sporty, there are various commonwealth games venues to explore- Scotstoun is close. Three parks are nearby: Cross Park opposite, Naseby Park with a playground and the larger Victoria Park with its fossils, ponds and play areas. The Botanic Gardens are a little further but still within walking distance.

For concert goers and events, the SECC , the Armadillo and Hydro are all walkable or one stop by train to Exhibition Centre. From there, you can also walk across Bell's bridge to the Science Centre and BBC.

Finnieston is an up an coming area for cafes and restaurants. If you don't fancy walking-it's one stop on either tube or train.
